The incident relates to February 2023 when Benny Diaw was attacked in a reported assault consisting of multiple blows at Tape, a high-profile nightclub in London’s iconic Mayfair district.
According to The Sun, Brown was arrested around 02:00 BST outside the Lowry Hotel, a luxury five-star establishment in the city of Manchester, and is currently being held on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

“A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May,” The Metropolitan Police said. “On suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been taken into custody where he remains.
“The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”
Diaw claims he was violently attacked by Brown without provocation, but the music star is yet to be charged with an offense in accordance with the England and Wales justice system.
“He hit me over the head two or three times. My knee collapsed as well,” Diaw told the Sun, adding that the assault left him hospitalized. He further alleges that Brown punched and kicked him after striking him with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila.
The producer initiated legal action against Brown in October 2023, filing a lawsuit accusing the artist of causing “severe and lasting injuries.” According to the suit, Brown “ruthlessly” stomped on him and kicked him in the neck, rendering him unconscious for approximately 30 seconds.
The singer was scheduled to begin his “Breezy Bowl XX Tour” celebrating his two decades in the music industry, including performances in Manchester this coming June. Whether his legal troubles will affect the tour remains unclear.
Brown’s history of assault
Brown, who rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits like ‘Run It’ and later won a Grammy, has had a history of violent incidents; the most infamous of which remains his 2009 felony assault conviction involving then-girlfriend Rihanna.
Graphic images of her injuries circulated widely at the time following the attack that saw him punch the then-21-year-old, who is only 5ft 8in tall and was known for her slim model frame.
In a separate case, a restraining order was granted in 2017 to the Emmy-winning actress, Karrueche Tran, after she accused Brown of making threats following their breakup.
According to TMZ, Brown allegedly sent her a text reading, “Bitch I will beat the s** t out of you.”
