Kmenový útočník Chicaga Teräväinen přispěl k demolici nebohých Slovinců 9:1 hned šesti nahrávkami. Stejný počet asistencí na mistrovství světa zaznamenal naposledy právě Holík. Stalo se tak poslední březnový den 1973 při prvním vystoupení Čechoslováků na turnaji v Moskvě, kdy si národní tým hravě poradil s Poláky 14:1.
„Teuvo měl docela dobrý den. Myslím, že nezkazil snad jedinou přihrávku. Když s ním hrajete, musíte být připravení na všechno, protože dokáže vymyslet věci, na které jiní ani nepomyslí,“ chválil Teräväinena spoluhráč Eeli Tolvanen, jenž sám na duel se Slovinci nezapomene.
Útočník Seattlu se totiž prosadil hned čtyřikrát, přičemž hattricku dosáhl v rámci druhé třetiny. „Ani si nevzpomínám, kdy jsem naposledy dal čtyři góly. Každopádně pro nás důležitá výhra,“ připomněl Tolvanen, že finské výkony v úvodu šampionátu nebyly optimální.

Stejného příspěvku jako Tolvanen dosáhl v české skupině v Herningu také Švýcar Sven Andrighetto. Výhru 5:1 nad Němci režíroval také čtyřmi zásahy a stejně jako jeho finský protějšek, také čerstvý mistr švýcarské ligy s Curychem se stihl prosadit třikrát během druhé třetiny.
Oba výše zmínění útočníci tak napodobili Davida Pastrňáka, který je posledním autorem hattricku na světovém šampionátu v rámci jediné třetiny. Povedlo se mu to v roce 2022 v zápase o třetí místo, kdy Češi porazili Spojené státy 8:4.
Švýcarům navíc jeho branky pomohly alespoň dočasně do čela tabulky herningské skupiny.
