„Jsem nadšený, že se po letech v Americe vracím do Evropy. Bude příjemné být zase blíž přátelům a rodině ve Švédsku. Věděl jsem, že se to jednou stane, a jsem rád, že to teď vyšlo. Co se týče ligy, vím, že je velmi kvalitní a soutěživá, takže se těším na začátek sezony,“ uvedl Berglund.
V zámoří podepsal po univerzitní kariéře smlouvu s Edmontonem, letos v březnu byl vyměněn do San Jose, ale v NHL příležitost nedostal.
V AHL odehrál za uplynulý ročník v barvách farmářských týmů Bakersfield Condors a San Jose Barracuda dohromady 47 zápasů a připsal si dva góly a deset nahrávek. Celkem má v AHL na kontě 65 startů a 16 bodů (3+16).
„Carl Berglund je hráč s výborným hokejovým myšlením a zkušenostmi z kvalitních soutěží. Věříme, že jeho příchod zvýší konkurenci v našem útoku,“ řekl sportovní ředitel Bruslařského klubu Tomáš Vlasák. „Loni jsme s pozicí centra trochu zápolili, takže jsme hledali někoho, kdo bude moct hrát právě na tomhle postu. Carl vycítil, že v Americe už asi nedostane tolik prostoru, kolik by si představoval. Chce větší šanci a u nás ji dostane. Jeho výhoda je navíc v tom, že s přehledem zvládne i křídlo,“ doplnil Vlasák.
