Diese Horror-Serie aus Sicht der Gastgeber konnte auch Wetzlars neuer Trainer Momir Ilic nicht durchbrechen. Der Serbe feierte sein Debüt auf der HSG-Trainerbank, hatte vor der Länderspielpause von Frank Carstens übernommen.
Dabei geht es so vielversprechend los, wie lange nicht: Nach neun Minuten führen die Gastgeber mit 6:2. Doch die SG dreht die Partie noch vor der Pause – vor allem dank Kapitän Johannes Golla (4 Tore/100 Prozent Wurfquote) und Emil Jakobsen (5 Treffer), geht mit 17:15 in die Kabine.
Auch nach der Halbzeit lässt sich die HSG nicht abschütteln, bringt die Gäste aber auch nicht entscheidend in Bedrängnis – und muss sie gegen Ende davonziehen lassen. Herausragender Werfer ist Flensburgs Emil Jacobsen mit elf Buden.
