Fest steht: Rashford will in die Champions League.

Marcus Rashford will wohl unbedingt zum FC Barcelona

This is Crystal Palace’s opportunity. Now embrace the excitement and make history

Crystal Palace must dare to dream, dare to believe, dare to achieve. The slogan on the club’s main training ground building used to read “winning is everything”. It would provide the supporters, so often praised for their colourful exuberance, with a European adventure at last.AdvertisementTo come this far and fall — again — at the last fence would be devastating. But nobody within the club is contemplating that possibility. He has shifted the whole mentality of the place. “He’s made all of us think differently. That’s what he’s brought to the club: positivity, and a mentality,” chairman Steve Parish told […]

Brighton’s struggle to replace Alexis Mac Allister – what is the solution?

Cody Bellinger won’t make Yankees fans forget Juan Soto. But he’s helping them move on

NEW YORK — From his vantage in left field, New York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger could hear the cascades of jeers, chants and vitriol directed toward home plate in the first inning Friday as Juan Soto stepped into the batter’s box wearing a New York Mets uniform.“It was loud, it was loud,” Bellinger said after a 6-2 Yankees victory at Yankee Stadium on the first night of the Subway Series. “I wouldn’t say I was surprised, no. But it was definitely loud.”AdvertisementThe careers of Bellinger and Soto now contain a link. Six days after Soto spurned the Yankees to sign a $765 million contract with the Mets, the Yankees pivoted to acquire Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs and plug a hole in the outfield. On a night when Yankee Stadium focused its ire on Soto, Bellinger continued an offensive upswing. […]

Archibald Leitch: The forgotten godfather of Goodison Park and Britain’s football stadiums

For 99 years, the criss-cross balcony motif that runs along the Bullens Road Stand has been the symbol of Goodison Park’s enduring charm. On Sunday, those season-ticket holders in the front row of the stand’s top tier will have one last opportunity to drape their flags and bang on the steel before Everton (the men’s team anyway) say goodbye.AdvertisementThe balcony was not always in the club’s blue and white colour scheme, as it is today. Originally, it was painted matt green because this was a functional aspect of the design by its Glaswegian architect, Archibald Leitch, in 1926, rather than a deliberate aesthetic extra, even though it has become fashionable to use the reversed saltire as piping on the collar of Everton’s home kits. The pattern was obscured from view by advertisements for many years, which is fitting considering how Leitch, a […]
