„Problém stalkingu se týká mnoha lidí a to byl jeden z důvodů, proč jsme to nahlásili policii,“ řekla Karlssonová na tiskové konferenci. „Dotýká se to nejen veřejně známých osobností. Oběťmi se stávají hlavně ženy, a proto to dělám.“
Karlssonová uvedla, že byla ráda, že prošla soudním procesem a mohla se vyjádřit. „Každý by se měl ozvat, když je něco špatně a někdo překročí hranici. Doufám, že každý, kdo se stal obětí, tak učiní,“ uvedla pětadvacetiletá lyžařka.
Čtyřiašedesátiletý muž se ji různými způsoby pokoušel kontaktovat, aniž od ní kdy dostal odpověď, a porušil i zákaz přiblížení. Od října roku 2023 do letošního února jí poslal nespočet textových zpráv a více než dvěstěkrát jí telefonoval. Loni si dokonce rezervoval letenku na Tenerife, kde byla Švédka v té době na tréninkovém kempu. Podle médií si muž myslel, že jsou s Karlssonovou nejen přátelé, ale i milenci. V telefonu měl více než 7000 jejích fotografií.
Proti podmíněnému trestu a pokutě se obě strany odvolaly. Státní zástupkyně chce, aby muž šel do vězení. „Doufám, že dostane trest, jaký si zaslouží. To by mohlo stanovit určitý standard, nejen pro mě, ale pro všechny, kdo se také stali oběťmi,“ řekla vítězka závodu na 50 km na letošním mistrovství světa v Trondheimu, která má ze šampionátů ještě dvě zlata ve štafetách. Na MS nasbírala dosud 13 medailí.

A video surfaced of an altercation breaking out in which Brown was involved, and gunshots were heard outside of the event. In a social media post explaining the situation from his perspective, Brown, 36, says he was "jumped by multiple individuals" trying to rob his jewelry. Brown also said police "temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me." Brown added he went home that night and was not arrested.
