Depois do afastamento do presidente Ednaldo Rodrigues, determinado na última quinta-feira pelo Tribunal de Justiça do Rio, a Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) convocou novas eleições para o próximo dia 25. A oito dias do pleito, o presidente da Federação Paulista de Futebol (FPF), Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos foi anunciado como candidato à presidência da CBF.

De acordo com publicação feita pela FPF, a candidatura parte do incentivo e apoio de “federações e por um grande número de clubes das Séries A e B do Campeonato Brasileiro”. Outro cotado para o posto é Samir Xaud, presidente da Federação de Roraima, conforme revelado pelo blog do jornalista Diogo Dantas no GLOBO.
“Há pelo menos 10 anos, a Confederação Brasileira de Futebol se notabilizou por frequentar páginas policiais, com escândalos e disputas judiciais. Nenhum dos últimos cinco presidentes da CBF terminou seu mandato, pelas mesmas razões. A seleção brasileira deixou de estar entre as melhores do mundo. E, internamente, é notório que o nosso futebol está muito aquém do seu potencial”, destaca trecho do comunicado da Federação Paulista.
Entre os desafios da candidatura de Reinaldo, segundo o anúncio da FPF, é “reconstruir a credibilidade do futebol brasileiro” a partir de “ação e transparência”.

TJ nomeou interventor
A decisão que afastou Edinaldo Rodrigues da presidência da CBF foi publicada nesta quinta-feira pelo desembargador Gabriel de Oliveira Zefiro, do Tribunal de Justiça do Rio. O magistrado nomeou o vice Fernando Sarney como interventor e determinou a realização de eleições “o mais rápido possível” para formação de nova diretoria.
A decisão atende a um pedido de Sarney feito ao TJRJ no começo da semana. Ele pediu a anulação de um acordo homologado em fevereiro no STF entre a CBF, a Federação Mineira de Futebol e mais cinco dirigentes; o afastamento de Ednaldo; e sua nomeação como interventor. A solicitação foi motivada por suspeitas de vício de consentimento na assinatura de um dos cartolas, Antônio Carlos Nunes Lima, o Coronel Nunes.
Além de afastar Ednaldo, Zefiro anulou o acordo. Ele fora assinado pelo próprio presidente da CBF, por Rogério Caboclo (ex-mandatário afastado pelo comitê de ética da entidade em 2021), Nunes, Sarney, Castellar Neto, Gustavo Feijó e pela Federação Mineira de Futebol. Todos eles eram parte de um processo que se arrasta desde 2021, quando o Ministério Público do Rio de Janeiro (MP-RJ) questionou a Assembleia Geral de 2017 que alterou as regras eleitorais da confederação. Ao longo destes anos, todos questionaram a legitimidade do MPRJ para atuar na entidade.
