Kanoista Martin Fuksa suverénně vyhrál na Světovém poháru v Szegedu závod na trati 1000 metrů, na které vloni získal zlatou olympijskou medaili. Kajakář Josef Dostál obsadil v Szegedu třetí místo v závodě na 1000 metrů. K medaili si pomohl drtivým finišem z poslední pozice.
