Winnipeg Jets at Dallas Stars Game 6
Stars lead series 3-2
Series odds: Stars -425, Jets +320
On the brink of elimination, the Jets forced a Game 6.
After a scoreless first period, Mark Scheifele was credited with the opening goal (that deflected off of Thomas Harley in front). Nikolaj Ehlers added to that early in the third period with a five-on-three power play goal. A Vladislav Namesntikov power-play goal about 10 minutes later padded Winnipeg’s lead, then an empty-netter from Ehlers sealed it.
There’s a lot to like from Winnipeg’s side of the matchup. Ehlers is bringing it when it matters most, after years of question marks around his playoff pedigree. The defense tightened up to limit the Stars, which helped Connor Hellebuyck play his best — he saved 2.5 goals above expected in his second shutout of the series.
Having home ice helped the Jets manage their top-six matchups better. The big question is whether they can win on the road to force a decisive Game 7. The Jets have gone 0-5 on the road so far this postseason, and the Stars rebounded in a big way after getting shutout in Game 2.
