Tanto que viu uma tentativa de contratá-lo ser recusada pelo Peixe. Segundo o GE, o Atlético-MG ofereceu a contratação do jogador, por valores não divulgados. Tal oferta, no entanto, não foi considerada pela diretoria santista neste momento da temporada.
A negociação ainda envolveria, além de valores para os cofres santistas, ajuda a quitar os valores de uma dívida mantida pela equipe do litoral paulista com os atleticanos relativa ao meia Patrick. Por já ter feito o número máximo de jogos (seis) permitido para um jogador atuar em um time do Brasileirão e depois se transferir para outro da mesma divisão caso faça a sétima partida, o atacante não mais poderá ser negociado com times da elite do futebol nacional. E, se não for considerada sua negociação para o futuro, há a chance de que possa até ficar sem jogar.
Atualmente, Guilherme se recupera de lesão, mas as críticas feitas pela torcida do Santos ao jogador nas últimas partidas que fez pelo Peixe podem pesar em um aproveitamento futuro do atleta por Cléber Xavier. E também na possibilidade de que haja uma negociação futura, diante do interesse de outros clubes pelo atacante e se o clube achar que é o momento de uma eventual saída.
