Problemas para WOW 19 en Alicante. El ‘main event’ de la velada de este sábado ha sido cancelado. Es decir, se cae la pelea entre Eduardo Riego (7-2) y Renato Rangel (9-6). El brasileño falló el peso en la báscula por casi 5 kilos (el viernes dio 97,8 y tenía que habar dado 93 kilos), y Riego no podrá pelear en Alicante, en su esperado regreso a las MMA
Una mala noticia que se confirmó la mañana del sábado y WOW oficializó en sus redes sociales con un comunicado:
“Durante los pesajes oficiales del WOW 19 Alicante el atleta RENATO RANGEL no cumplió con el límite de peso para su combate en la categoría de semi pesado. El combate entre Renato Rangel y Eduardo Riego, por tanto ha sido cancelado.
WOWfc cumple con todas las normativas establecidas por las autoridades regulatorias y no interviene en el proceso de corte de peso, el cual es responsabilidad exclusiva de cada atleta y su equipo. Lamentamos cualquier inconveniente para los fans y agradecemos su continuo apoyo. Tenemos por tanto una velada con 11 extraordinarios combates que seguro harán vibrar a la afición alicantina”.
Es, desde luego, un palo para Ilia Topuria y la promotora de MMA líder en España, que regresaban a la ‘casa’ del ‘Matador’ con ganas de brillar de nuevo. El ‘main event’ ahora pasa a ser el Isai Villamur (5-0) vs Allan Ruiz (9-3).
Veremos qué ocurre ahora con Eduardo Riego, que volvía a las MMA tras 10 años ausente y había levantado mucha expectativa. El próximo evento de WOW está previsto para el 7 de junio, en Madrid, con la ‘Noche de los Campeones’.
