A seleção francesa é conhecida por ter uma forte presença de jogadores com dupla nacionalidade, principalmente em países da África, como é o caso do craque Kylian Mbappé, que tem descendência camaronesa e argelina. Fruto da tradição e profissionalismo no futebol, a maioria dos atletas não pensa duas vezes na hora de escolher a bicampeã do mundo. No entanto, Serhou Guirassy, 29 anos, decidiu ser exceção. Nascido em Arles, na França, o atacante do Borussia Dortmund-ALE, rival do Fluminense na estreia do Mundial de Clubes, em 17 de junho, chegou a percorrer esse caminho nas categorias de base, mas “ouviu o coração” ao optar por representar o vermelho, amarelo e verde da bandeira de Guiné, onde seus pais nasceram.

— Guiné me procurou cedo, mas recusei no começo, porque não me sentia pronto. Mas como já disse muitas vezes, foi uma das melhores decisões da minha carreira. É um orgulho enorme. A primeira vez no país como jogador da seleção foi uma recepção inacreditável. Nunca vou esquecer. É algo muito especial vestir as cores do seu país — contou Guirassy à Bundesliga.

Então artilheiro da Champions League com 13 gols — empatado com o brasileiro Raphinha, do Barcelona — pelo Borussia, o guineense tornou-se recentemente alvo do PSG de Luis Enrique, que o enxerga como favorito para compor o ataque da equipe na próxima janela de transferências, segundo a imprensa europeia. Se o interesse virar realmente realidade, o jogador, que tem contrato até 2028 com o time alemão e uma multa rescisória de aproximadamente 70 milhões de euros (cerca de R$ 442 milhões na cotação atual), pode ser justamente campeão na França.

Quando questionado sobre o assunto, Guirassy se mostra consciente das consequências de sua decisão. Protagonista com a bola nos pés para uma nação com cerca de 14 milhões de habitantes, o jogador reforça a noção da representatividade e reconhece a pressão que carrega nas costas. Por mais que tenha escolhido o caminho “mais difícil” no futebol de seleções, ele ainda sonha levar Guiné pela primeira vez na história a uma Copa do Mundo, que vai estrear o formato com 48 equipes em 2026.

— Acredito que sou um exemplo para os guineenses, especialmente para os jovens. As crianças admiram os atletas profissionais, e nós gostamos de colocar um sorriso no rosto delas com a seleção nacional. Não há maior honra do que ser visto como embaixador do meu país — destacou.

Mesmo com a rotina movimentada entre viagens e jogos, o atacante sempre dá um jeito de colocar a numerosa família em primeiro lugar, seja na culinária ou em comemorações. Fruto da sua criação com raízes africanas, o jogador é mais um jogador mulçumano que concilia o Ramadã — mês sagrado no calendário islâmico, conhecido por ser um tempo de jejum, orações e prática de caridade — com o futebol. Se é difícil para certos atletas, ele encara “mais como uma força do que fraqueza”.

Há pouco menos de um mês do Mundial de Clubes, Guirassy não vê a hora de disputar a competição. Apesar da dificuldade e complexidade do torneio, ele espera ter mais uma oportunidade de colocar o nome de Guiné na história do futebol.
