Oliver Glasner to stay at Crystal Palace next season, club must match his ambition — Steve Parish

Steve Parish insists Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner will remain at Selhurst Park next season but admits the club must now match his ambition to keep him in the long term.

Glasner led Palace to the first major trophy in their history on Saturday courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

The Austrian is also on course to lead Palace to their highest ever Premier League points tally, with the club needing just one point from their final two games to eclipse their current record of 49.

Glasner, 50, signed a two-and-a-half-year contract when he arrived at Palace in February 2024. Bayern Munich failed in a bid to hire Glasner as Thomas Tuchel’s successor three months later, having proposed an €18 million (£15.5m) compensation package.

He has recently been linked with other Bundesliga clubs such as RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen, who are both looking for new managers.

Palace have opened talks with Glasner’s representatives over a contract extension and Parish has confirmed he will definitely remain until at least the end of his contract in June 2027.

“Oliver will be here next year,” Parish told reporters at Wembley. “Everyone knows the length of contract, beyond that we have to talk. We want to extend his contract but everything needs to be right for everybody. And today’s not a time to think about it.

“Of course, you want him to stay but football and clubs evolve and move on. I’d love him to stay, but also the club’s got to develop behind him.

“The club’s got to show the ambition, in terms of the things that we want to do to move it forward and for people to feel part of something. Somewhere down the track, we’ll have a conversation and see what we all feel.”

Palace’s win over City has also ensured qualification for the Europa League for the first time which Parish hopes can be leveraged to help convince new signings to join.

“The recruitment sales pitch has been to sign young players,” he added. “Give them that place to shine. Now we’ve won an FA Cup, does it make the sales pitch for next season easier? Yes, so much easier. Now, you’ve got European football as well.”

Scottie Scheffler confirms use of backup driver, like Rory McIlroy, after originals failed USGA test

Getty Images Rory McIlroy did not have the week he wanted at Quail Hollow. The 2025 PGA Championship co-favorite at 5-1 failed to factor into the conversation on the weekend, sputtering to a 3 over finish. That effort came after reportedly needing to rely in a new driver after his standard driver failed USGA driver testing earlier in the week.McIlroy did not speak with the media after any of his rounds, so there has been no confirmation about the status of his driver, but either way, it was not a malicious effort from McIlroy to play with what was deemed illegal equipment. The USGA performs weekly tests to ensure players' driver faces haven't worn too thin over the course of normal use, making them springier and "hotter." The problem is that there is little in the way of transparency about the […]

Thunder vs. Timberwolves: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Anthony Edwards? This series is irresistible

The Oklahoma City Thunder didn’t need 48 minutes to show how worthy they are of making the Western Conference finals for the first time in nearly a decade.
