Ferrari v aktuální sezoně předvádí výkony zaostávající za očekáváními svých fanoušků. Loňskou sezonu ukončila italská stáj na druhém místě Poháru konstruktérů za vítězným McLarenem. Po sezoně pak stáj opustil Carlos Sainz a místo něj přišel na pozici týmového kolegy Charlese Leclerca sedminásobný mistr světa Lewis Hamilton. Očekávání byla vysoká, o to větší ranou jsou dosavadní letošní výsledky.
Na domácí závodní trať Enza a Dina Ferrari v Imole přijeli po šesti Velkých cenách se zápisem jediného pódia za třetí místo Charlese Leclerca v Saúdské Arábii. Hamilton vyhrál sprint v Číně a ve zkráceném závodě v Miami byl třetí. Jenže z nejlepších čtyř stájí, které by se měly přetahovat o Pohár konstruktérů, je Ferrari zatím nejhorší.
Na náladě fanouškům (tifosi) Ferrari nepřidala ani kvalifikace. Jezdcům v červených monopostech se ani trochu nevydařila. Oba skončili v její druhé části a na startu obsadili 11. a 12. místo.
Jenže vývoj závodu Ferrari vyšel. Leclerc byl jedním z prvních pilotů, kteří po desátém kole zajeli do boxů a vyměnili své středně tvrdé pneumatiky za nejtvrdší. Strhnul s sebou další a na trať se vrátil před nimi.
Hamilton začínal s opačně naplánovanou strategií na tvrdých gumách a měl měnit na střední. Oběma pilotům následně pomohl i konec Ocona a Antonelliho v závodě. Kvůli tomu byly vyvěšeny žluté vlajky, jednou oznámen virtuální safety car, a jednou dokonce bezpečnostní vozidlo vyjelo na trať.
To umožnilo další výměnu pneumatik bez zbytečného rizika, a jestli se ve Ferrari něco v aktuální sezoně daří, jsou to rychlé výměny. Po konci safety caru devět kol před koncem byl Leclerc na čtvrtém místě a Hamilton na šestém.
V tu chvíli ale na Monačana tlačil pátý Albon, jehož při obraně pozice Leclerc vytlačil mimo trať. Díky tomu Albona předjel i Hamilton, chvíli na to se dostal i před týmového kolegu a ukončil závod na čtvrté pozici, jeho nejlepším umístění ve Velké ceně od přestupu.
„Byl to super závod. Mám pocit, že nám všechno hrálo do karet a tým skvěle pracoval. Děkuji všem za dobrou strategii a rychlé zastávky v boxech, které máme v této sezoně vlastně pokaždé. Auto mi dneska přišlo správně nastavené a cítil jsem se v něm dobře. Konečně máme něco, od čeho se dá odpíchnout. Já jsem konečně zajel dobrý závod a získal slušné body,“ radoval se v cíli z úspěchu Hamilton v rozhovoru pro Nova Sport.
Leclerc na radu týmu přenechal v posledním kole páté místo Albonovi, aby se vyhnul případné penalizaci a skončil šestý.
„Snažil jsem se udělat všechno pro to, abych ho udržel za sebou. Vím, že to bylo na hraně, ale šel jsem prostě all in. Měl jsem už sjeté gumy a hodně jsem na nich klouzal a trápil se,“ řekl k incidentu po závodě Leclerc v rozhovoru pro Nova Sport.
Závod před domácími fanoušky tak nedopadl katastrofálně, což po kvalifikaci hrozilo. Hamilton v závodě získal osm pozic a Leclerc pět. Nepochybně byli motivovaní i diváckou kulisou.
„Všude tady bylo tolik fanoušků Ferrari. Bylo to jako červené moře. Nedělám to běžně, ale při přehlídce jezdců jsem vytáhl telefon, abych to natočil. Je to neskutečné. Tolik lidí, kteří milují F1 a naši stáj. Cítil jsem se skvěle a potěšilo mě, jak mě tu přijali. Vzpomněl jsem si i na doby, kdy tu ještě závodil Michael Schumacher, a cítil jsem se ve spojení s tou bohatou historií, do níž určitě přidám svůj díl nějakým vítězstvím,“ doplnil pro Nova Sport Hamilton.

Letošní sezona seriálu formule 1 začala 16. března Velkou cenou Austrálie a končí 7. prosince v Abú Zabí. Titul mezi jezdci obhajuje Nizozemec Max Verstappen z Red Bullu a mezi stájemi britský McLaren.
