After a seventh inning that had Aggies fans holding their breath Sunday, Texas A&M escaped to send its regional-round matchup against Liberty to extra innings, where the Aggies avoided elimination with a 14-11 victory.
With the win, Texas A&M forced an immediate Game 7 against Liberty on Sunday night, with the winner advancing to the super regionals. Texas A&M is seeking its first national title since 1987, while Liberty looks to make its first super regionals.
Game 7 is already underway in Bryan-College Station, Texas. It can be streamed on ESPN+ and ESPN2.

Liberty got off to a fast start in the first Sunday meeting, taking a 6-0 lead after two innings. But an 11-1 run by the Aggies over the next four innings gave them an 11-7 edge heading into the bottom of the seventh.
There, Liberty scored three runs in four at-bats to pull within one run, 11-10. With the bases loaded, Liberty senior Alyssa Henault walked up to home plate to face pitcher Kate Munnerlyn. The Texas A&M freshman hit Henault, sending Liberty redshirt junior Savanah Whatley home.

With the score even at 11, coach Trisha Ford made a pitching change, swapping Munnerlyn for freshman Sydney Lessentine.
Lessentine walked into no small task. With the bases loaded and two outs, the pressure was at its peak. The count grew to 3-2, and a flyout by Liberty senior KK Madrey sent the game to extra innings, allowing Aggies fans to finally catch a breath.
Texas A&M scored three runs in the top of the eighth, while holding Liberty to three straight outs in the bottom of the eighth, to keep the super regionals hopes alive.
“This team is gritty and we’re not going to give up until the very last out,” Texas A&M junior Kennedy Powell said on the broadcast after the game.
“This team is a bunch of dogs. We got one more.”
Powell recorded three hits, one run and four RBIs. Star hitter Mya Perez recorded three RBIs en route to breaking the program’s single-season RBI record with 73.

After Liberty stunned Texas A&M in the second game of its regional-round bracket, the Aggies blew out Marist 17-4 to avoid elimination and set up the rematch with the Flames. Texas A&M needed to beat Liberty in the first game Sunday to force another in order to advance out of the double-elimination round.
