Real Madrid want Antonio Pintus to remain with the first team for the Club World Cup and next season.
The Spanish club are keen for the 62-year-old Italian to continue in his role as physical trainer under Xabi Alonso, who is set to replace Carlo Ancelotti as head coach.
The decision has already been communicated to Pintus, who has to make a final decision which will depend largely on his first impressions of Alonso and his staff.

Alonso, having managed his last game with Bayer Leverkusen, is expected to soon start work as Madrid’s new head coach, replacing Ancelotti, who will join the Brazil national team from May 25.
The former central midfielder is set to bring with him some of the staff that were alongside him in Germany, including fitness trainer Ismael Camenforte Lopez.
This had initially led the club to look for alternatives so that Pintus could remain at Valdebebas in another capacity, potentially in different sections and departments under his current position, head of physical preparation at the club.
The Italian’s first spell at Madrid was under Zinedine Zidane between 2016 and 2019. He returned in 2021 to work with Ancelotti, who was starting a second spell at the Bernabeu after departing Everton.
“Florentino (Perez, club president) really believes that Pintus is the secret or key to winning the Champions League,” a club source, speaking on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships, told The Athletic.
Multiple sources with knowledge of the current situation indicate that Pintus wants to feel important and listened to after a season of much wear and tear due to criticism and internal friction regarding his methods and the large number of injuries that the squad has suffered, which deteriorated his relationship at different levels at the club.
The only three Madrid players to have not missed games through injury this season are Luka Modric, Arda Guler and Endrick. The club is studying this and do not believe Pintus is the sole contributing factor.
Pintus has been of interest to several clubs, including Juventus, where he had two previous spells.
Luis Llopis, the goalkeeping coach who served under Zidane and returned at Perez’s request in 2021, will remain at the club. He knows Alonso through his time with Real Sociedad first team, while Alonso coached the side’s B team between 2019 and 2022.

The rest of the staff that arrived with Ancelotti will leave with him. This includes Davide Ancelotti, Carlo’s son and assistant coach; Francesco Mauri, technical assistant; Beniamino Fulco, Carlo’s son-in-law and technical and physical assistant; and Simone Montanaro, technical analyst.
All of them will go with Ancelotti to Brazil, although Davide is expected to leave after the two World Cup qualifiers with Ecuador and Paraguay in June to begin his career as a head coach. Mauri could also follow Davide to his next club.
