It’s no secret that the Cleveland Browns had a golden opportunity to pull off a major coup by selecting Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they passed on the duo to choose Mason Graham with the No. 5 overall pick. Hunter went to the Jacksonville Jaguars, while Shedeur Sanders did join the Browns, but not until the fifth round at pick 144. Against this backdrop, the Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter, shared his thoughts on the present and immediate future of his former Colorado Buffaloes teammate.

“Shedeur, he’s got to go in there and work, earn his job just like me,” Hunter of the Jaguars told Fox. “But he’s also got to go in there and be the head of the offense, so he’s got to go in there and be a leader.”
Leadership is something Shedeur Sanders must prove if he hopes to stand out amid the fierce competition within the Browns, a franchise that has historically struggled to find a quarterback capable of elevating them to the next level.
Shedeur Sanders is coming off a stellar 2024 season with Colorado, where he threw 37 touchdown passes and completed 74% of his passes, leading the nation in completion percentage. However, the NFL is a different beast altogether.
The 23-year-old was projected as a first-round pick but fell to the fifth round, and many still question whether he can perform at the highest level. Rumors surrounding his draft slide pointed to concerns about his attitude. Now, the stage is set for Sanders to prove his doubters wrong.
