O goleiro Hugo Souza, do Corinthians, está entre os pré-convocados pelo técnico Carlo Ancelotti, técnico da seleção brasileira, para os duelos contra Equador (5 de junho) e Paraguai (10 de junho), pelas Eliminatórias. A escolha, porém, gerou enorme contestação dos torcedores nas redes sociais.
Na avaliação dos internautas, o arqueiro do Timão estaria atrás de outros atletas jogadores da posição neste Campeonato Brasileiro. Gabriel Brazão, do Santos, foi um dos mencionados por estes.
Titular absoluto do Corinthians, Hugo Souza é peça fundamental da equipe paulista. Revelado no Flamengo, ele teve em 2024 a missão de substituir Carlos Miguel, negociado com o futebol inglês e, por ‘tabela’, dar conta de uma posição que por anos foi de Cássio, tido como o maior goleiro na história do Timão.
Mais cedo, o ge.com noticiou que seis jogadores do Flamengo também estariam na pré-lista. São eles: Danilo, Wesley, Léo Ortiz, Alex Sandro, Gerson e Pedro. Vale lembrar que somente no dia 26 serão revelados os 23 atletas convocados para os jogos contra Equador e Paraguai, pelas Eliminatórias.

Estreia de Ancelotti nas Eliminatória
A Seleção Brasileira encara o Equador, dia 5 de junho, em Guayaquil, e o Paraguai, no dia 10, na Arena Corinthians, em São Paulo. Por exigência da Fifa, a CBF precisou comunicar os clubes que possuem atletas convocados 15 dias antes da apresentação, que será no dia 2.
Com a presença do diretor de seleções, Rodrigo Caetano, e o coordenador técnico, Juan, Ancelotti, em Madrid, definiu a pré-lista com 50 nomes que será reduzida para 23 no dia da apresentação do italiano.
