Je to kruté. Ale je to tak. Před zápasem jsme o této možnosti věděli, ale nepřipouštěli jsme si ji. Věřili jsme, že to zvládneme. Nepovedlo se.
Co bylo špatně ve třetí třetině?
Byli jsme mockrát venku (vylučovaní). Těžko říct, co všechno byly, nebo nebyly fauly, to už je teď jedno. Když chceš uspět v důležitých zápasech, nemůžeš hrát tolik času v oslabení. Měli jsme si taky pomoct vlastní přesilovkou. Druhá třetina byla z naší strany poměrně slušná, vedení 2:1 jsme si měli pohlídat.
MS v hokeji 2025
88. ročník mistrovství světa v hokeji je na programu v termínu od 9. do 25. května 2025. Hostí jej Švédsko a Dánsko, konkrétně města Stockholm a Herning.
Čím vám Američané způsobovali největší problémy?
Věděli jsme, že hrají hodně ofenzivně a zapojují do toho i beky. Potřebovali jsme dostávat puky rychle za ně nebo naopak je rychle obracet. Nějaké šance jsme z toho měli. Uvědomovali jsme si, že nemůžeme ztrácet kotouče. Jakmile se to stalo, Američané šli hned ve čtyřech dopředu. S jejich kvalitou bylo těžké to chytat.
Navíc se zdálo, že vám dělá problémy jejich hra na vašem brankovišti.
Dělali to chytře, ani nevím, kolik faulů tím získali. Klasická jejich hra, zkusit něco vyprovokovat a dostat z toho přesilovky.
A několikrát vás zachránil gólman Vejmelka, který si navzdory čtyřem gólům připsal 51 zákroků…
Chytal skvěle. Američané měli ještě spoustu dalších šancí, které pochytal.
Neotřese první porážka na MS sebevědomím týmu?
Nemůžeme z toho dělat vědu. Je potřeba se poučit a dobře se připravit na čtvrtfinále. Ať v něm bude kdokoliv.
Pokud Dánové prohrají s Němci nebo Švédové neuhrají ani bod proti Kanaďanům, musíte se pro čtvrtfinále přesunout do Stockholmu. Je to komplikace?
Teď už s tím nic nenaděláme. Budeme čekat… Rádi bychom zůstali v Herningu, ale teď už to nemáme ve svých rukách.
Zůstat v Herningu by znamenalo odvetu s USA po dvou dnech…

Pro nás jsou důležité oba. Asi si dáme na hotelu dvě televize vedle sebe.
Je pro čtvrtfinále dobrou zprávou, že oba gólmani Vejmelka s Vladařem vypadají v dobré formě?
Pro čtvrtfinále je to dobrá zpráva. Je na trenérech, pro koho se rozhodnou. Víme, že oba jsou velice kvalitní a věřím, že každý z nich dokáže čtvrtfinále vychytat.
