V novodobé historii spolu obě země sehrály celkem 20 vzájemných utkání, z nichž desetkrát se radovalo české mužstvo a devětkrát reprezentace USA. Jeden zápas skončil remízou. Naposledy se radovali v Praze 2024 Češi po vítězství 1:0 v čtvrtfinále, což zahájilo jejich jízdu vyřazovací fází za domácím zlatem.
Přestože vždy patří k největším favoritům, čeká reprezentace USA na světové zlato již od roku 1960. Od roku 1993 se na mistrovství světa jen šestkrát radovala z cenného kovu a to vždy z bronzu – v letech 1996, 2004, 2013, 2015, 2018 a 2021.

88. ročník mistrovství světa v hokeji je na programu v termínu od 9. do 25. května 2025. Hostí jej Švédsko a Dánsko, konkrétně města Stockholm a Herning.
