Prince Louis proved his maturity and loyalty to his family during the 2023 Together At Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey, delivering a magical surprise that left his sister, Princess Charlotte, delighted.
The annual holiday event, hosted by Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, brings together communities, charities, and creatives in a celebration of compassion and festive spirit.
But this time, the family occasion came with a hidden twist – one that six-year-old Prince Louis helped keep under wraps.
According to a recent feature in HELLO! Magazine, Louis played a key role in ensuring the success of a surprise arranged by his mother.

Kate had secretly planned for a group of ballet dancers to perform during the concert – a gesture specifically meant to delight Princess Charlotte, who is known to have a deep love for ballet.
Despite knowing the details in advance, Louis didn’t let the secret slip, demonstrating impressive restraint for someone his age.
HELLO! reports: “Kate told Prince Louis that she had arranged a secret ballet performance for Princess Charlotte to enjoy, and was extremely proud that her son, then six, had managed to keep it quiet from his big sister until the evening of the event.”
A moment of magic, captured at Westminster Abbey
Lady Gabriella Windsor, who helped with the artistic programming for the concert and is a close royal relative, spoke with HELLO! about the emotional and creative effort behind the scenes.
She admitted she hadn’t even known about the inclusion of ballet dancers until the event itself.
“It was a very special idea of hers to include ballet dancers at the concert – I didn’t know that there would be children as well as adult dancers, all brightly and beautifully dressed as they danced through the abbey,” Lady Gabriella said. “It was a wonderful gathering of creative people, and it was extremely moving.”
The performance wasn’t just a treat for Charlotte – it marked a broader vision for the event. Kate has used the Together At Christmas concert as a platform to showcase artistic talent and community engagement, highlighting values close to her heart.
In addition to the ballet performance, the concert featured musical contributions from a wide range of artists. Lady Gabriella added that she had suggested several performers for the evening, including Gregory Porter and pianist-composer Rosey Chan.
“Two of the school bands played Christmas classics to guests as they arrived at the Abbey which the guests loved,” she said. “The students also really enjoyed it… As did Gregory Porter and Rosey Chan, who were some of the other artists I put forward.”
The 2023 edition of Together At Christmas continues to reinforce Kate’s growing influence as a cultural and philanthropic figure within the royal family.
And with moments like Prince Louis‘ quiet act of love and loyalty, the younger generation is already stepping into their own royal roles – with heart, thoughtfulness, and grace.
