Taffarel, marcado na história do futebol nacional, se tornou uma das referências na posição de goleiro. Apesar da carreira brilhante, o titular da seleção no título mundial de 1994 não foi escolhido para fazer parte do top-10 de maiores arqueiros da história. Em lista elaborada pela IFFHS (Federação Internacional de História e Estatísticas do Futebol), nenhum brasileiro marcou presença na relação.
Conhecido como “Aranha Negra”, Lev Yashin ficou à frente de outros oponentes de peso. Vencedor da Bola de Ouro em 1963, o ícone do futebol soviético ganhou a disputa particular com Buffon e Neuer, que completaram o top-3.
