There was a moment last season which led to a very public and notorious beef between CBS Sports and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders. The head coach refused to take a question from CBS Sports Colorado reporter Sean Keeler during a press conference, but Coach Prime made sure to let him know that his beef wasn’t with the reporter: “I’m not doing nothing with CBS… It ain’t got nothing to do with you, they know what they did“.
Many took it as Sanders being upset that CBS Sports had ranked him as the second-worst coach in the Big 12 conference and 61st overall in the country. As it turned out, Sanders was still upset about a “project” with the network that CBS pulled out of. While the rankings weren’t the issue then, maybe they are now.

CBS Sports ranks Deion Sanders as the 33rd-best head coach in college football
Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports shared results from a vote among CBS Sports and 247Sports experts who ranked the best head coaches in college football. Sanders came in at 33rd, and Fornelli had this to say about it.
What Deion Sanders Said To Tampa Bay Buccaneers After Signing Shilo Sanders
While the on-field results didn’t match the off-field hype in 2023, Sanders’ Colorado team improved to 9-4 and was in the hunt for a conference title until the end of the season. Oh, and Travis Hunter won the Heisman. Now, we sit back and see how things will go with Hunter and Shedeur Sanders off to the NFL. I won’t be surprised by any outcome, honestly. The team could crater, or it could win the Big 12.
To be fair to CBS’ ranking, Sanders actually jumped up an incredible 28 spots from last season. Only one other head coach made that big of a move up. It’s not a bad ranking, but Coach Prime will likely feel as if he should be given more credit for the turnaround Colorado experienced in 2024.
One spot ahead of Sanders was Nebraska’s Matt Rhule, who created a heated rivalry of sorts with some unsavory indirect comments about Sanders over the past two seasons. Nebraska beat Colorado 28-10 last season, so that ranking may be warranted.
