Výkon severoamerického výběru jako by jim dával za pravdu. Kanaďané se na Švédy vrhli a do vedení se dostali už po 18 sekundách. Celý zápas neprohrávali a díky výhře 5:3 si zajistili první místo ve skupině.
Po zápase Kanaďané Forsbergovy teorie ostře odmítli. „To vůbec není pravda. Vůbec jsme takhle neuvažovali. Chceme vyhrát každý zápas. Finsko odehrálo dobrý defenzivní zápas a mají skvělého brankáře. Ten zápas jsme prohráli, ale ne proto, že bychom se šetřili nebo to vzdali,“ odmítl supertalent Macklin Celebrini.
A podpořil ho i Nathan MacKinnon. „Proti Finsku jsme hráli dobře. Jejich brankář byl skvělý a my měli jen jednu přesilovku, zatímco oni pět. Měli jsme několik výborných šancí,“ reagoval podle serveru Expressen hráč, který bezprostředně po utkání s Finskem kritizoval výkon rozhodčích Jana Hribika z Česka a Mikaela Holma ze Švédska: „Měli na své straně dobrého brankáře a rozhodčí. To byly dva klíčové faktory.“

Nyní ale nechtěl MacKinnon na kritiku příliš reagovat. Je totiž hráčem Colorada Avalanche, za nějž roky hrál právě i Forsberg. „Je pro mě těžké s ním nesouhlasit… Možná se jen snaží najít výmluvu, proč jsme prohráli – což je od něj hezké. Ale není to pravda, hráli jsme dobře,“ dodal kanadský útočník.
