Herning (od našeho zpravodaje) – Nebyla to ojedinělá šťouchanice, ale byla nejspíš tou, při které skutečně hrozily rány pěstí. Ještě za stavu 2:1 pro český tým se před americkou brankou strhla mela, ve které původně figuroval Voženílek se Skjeiem. Od nich ale jiskra přeskočila na dvoumetrového habána Klapku (Calgary) a Garlanda (Vancouver), dva „staré“ známé z NHL.
„Hrál jsem proti němu, hraje takovým stylem, já mám taky svůj styl. Nějak se to seběhlo. V Americe už jsem rukavice shodil, ale tady je to jiné. Člověk musí být opatrnější, funguje to tu trochu jinak, můžete si to maximálně vyříkat. Ale snažil jsem se tomu postavit,“ líčil Klapka.
Mezi výtečníky totiž hned přiskočili čároví sudí a snažili se je roztrhnout, byť oba se jen tak nenechali. A pokřikovali na sebe i poté, co usedli na trestnou. Tam pak oba zabrala kamera a diváci v hale viděli jejich tváře. Při záběru na Garlanda publikum s převahou Čechů pískalo, u Klapky bouřilo nadšením.
„Tohle je baví, v zápasech to chtěli vidět. Vnímal jsem to, bylo to super, ale jsem tu kvůli týmovém úspěchu, což se dneska nepovedlo,“ věděl Klapka. „Ale vždycky s takovými soupeři, jako jsou Kanada a Amerika, je to trochu ostřejší. Počítali jsme s tím a byli na to připravení. Ukázali jsme, že se jich nebojíme a že si tohle nebudou dovolovat.“
MS v hokeji 2025
88. ročník mistrovství světa v hokeji je na programu v termínu od 9. do 25. května 2025. Hostí jej Švédsko a Dánsko, konkrétně města Stockholm a Herning.
Celek ale navzdory statečnosti duel ztratil. Amerika potrestala zbytečná vyloučení a Češi teď ve čtvrtfinále vyrukují ve Stockholmu na domácí Švédy.
„Musíme pracovat na tom, abychom se udrželi v útočném pásmu. Trenéři nám to rozeberou a ukážou na video, v dalším zápase se od toho odrazíme. A rozhodčí? Ty bych nechtěl moc hodnotit. Musíme respektovat jejich rozhodnutí. Asi tam bylo pár kontroverznějších momentů, ale s tím nic neuděláme,“ uvedl Klapka.
