Meghan Markle marked her wedding anniversary with Prince Harry by unveiling a personal collection of family photographs including their rarely seen images of their children. But could it counter her husband’s concerns about family security?
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are virtually anonymous when it comes to fans of the British Royal Family knowing what they look like, with both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex rarely showing their six-year-old and three-year-old children.
However, that changed on Monday, May 19 with a photo tribute that featured a bulletin board collage containing around 40 images capturing key moments from the couple’s life together.
Among them was a tender image of six-year-old Archie kissing three-year-old Lilibet on the forehead in front of an ornately decorated Christmas tree in one of the most personal family moments the public has seen of the siblings to date.

However, the decision to publicly share such candid snapshots appears to clash with Harry‘s long-standing position on protecting his children’s safety, which recently flared after he lost a court case in the United Kingdom.
“Harry is all about protecting his kids,” a source familiar with the couple told pagesix.com. “So I can’t imagine he will be happy with this.”
In fact, this contrast between these public concerns and the increasing online visibility of the children and Markle‘s gesture has even raised eyebrows among royal watchers and insiders alike.
“Harry and Meghan have gone to great lengths to protect the kids,” said another family source to pagesix.com. “They rarely take them out in public places.
“And it’s just a bit odd that photos are starting to come out now, when they are more recognizable.”
But this seems as though it could be a new policy from their mom as Meghan has recently shared several new images of Archie and Lilibet through her online presence.
On Mother’s Day, she posted a heartwarming shot of the children climbing on her, referring to the moment as “climbing mama mountain,” and in April, she included pictures of the kids gardening as part of her lifestyle brand’s launch.
Why could the photos create tension for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?
Since stepping back from royal duties and relocating to California, Harry has been vocal about his security fears, particularly regarding his family’s vulnerability in the UK to the point where they are isolated from their cousins and grandfather.
And after recently losing a legal battle over government-provided security, the 40-year-old told the BBC that the outcome affects him “every single day”, sending a warning to King Charles that the 76-year-old may never see them again.
“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” Harry told the BBC, pointing to the risks of returning without adequate protection.
According to Harry, the only scenario in which he would feel safe bringing his family back is if they were officially invited by the royal household, which would trigger full security measures.
But this does not seem to be within the policy of Buckingham Palace, nor something Prince William is keen to agree to either.
