Den Sieg in Freiburg und den damit verbundenen Einzug von Eintracht Frankfurt in die Champions League hat Peter Fischer (69) nicht live im Stadion erlebt: „Das war noch zu anstrengend“, sagt der Ehrenpräsident. Die Erklärung: Erst vor drei Monaten hatte er eine schwere Krebs-OP (Prostata). Gefreut hat er sich natürlich dennoch.

BILD: Was bedeutet die Champions League für Sie?
PETER FISCHER: Nach den übermächtigen Bayern und Leverkusen das zu schaffen, sozusagen als Meister vom Rest, das hatte wirklich niemand auf dem Schirm. Ich auch nicht. Und ganz ehrlich: Das wird in der kommenden Saison auch wahnsinnig schwer in der Champions League. Vor allem, wenn man bedenkt, wer vielleicht alles weggeht; das sind ja nicht gerade unsere Schlechtesten. Da adäquaten Ersatz zu finden, ist nicht einfach. Denn nur mit großartigen Talenten wird es vermutlich nicht gehen.

Leiden Sie immer noch so mit wie früher?
Vor meiner Zeit als Präsident (2000 bis 2024/d. Red.) hatte ich ein anderes Fan-Bewusstsein, jetzt, danach, genauso. Das ist normal, so etwas verändert sich im Laufe der Jahre.
Also ist der Abstand doch größer geworden?
Na ja, ich fieber‘ schon mit, aber doch mit ein bisschen Abstand. Ich bin ja nicht mehr tagtäglich bei der Eintracht, wo du dann auf den Gängen mit den Kollegen sprichst, dich über alles austauschst. Obwohl: Das wird jetzt mehr werden, weil ich wieder öfter am Riederwald sein werde. Es gibt ein paar Dinge, wo ich helfen kann.
Wie sehr freuen Sie sich für Trainer Dino Toppmöller?
Ich kann nur den Hut vor ihm ziehen. Ich war von Anfang an, und das kann jeder überprüfen, ein Dino-Freund. Er musste ja wirklich viel Mist fressen. Mit was für einer Mannschaft er in seinem ersten Jahr arbeiten musste … Und diesmal haben sie ihm im Winter Omar Marmoush weggekauft. Deshalb bin ich auch so sauer.
Worauf, oder besser: auf wen?
Ich bin wirklich unfassbar geschockt von dem Verhalten der sogenannten Fans. Wenn du dir angeschaut hast, was für unglaubliche Kommentare es in der Woche vor dem Freiburg-Spiel in den sozialen Medien gab. ‚Dieser Drecksklub‘, ‚die Gescheiterten‘, ‚der Trainer muss raus‘, ‚die können alle nichts‘, ‚Versager, Penner‘, ‚die sind zu blöd‘, ‚ich schäm‘ mich für den Verein‘ … Und noch viel Schlimmeres. Da waren Leute dabei aus der Gründerzeit der Fan- und Förderabteilung, die seit über 30 Jahren ins Stadion rennen, deshalb ganz andere Zeiten erlebt haben. Und die waren plötzlich enttäuscht, weil wir vielleicht die Champions League nicht erreichen. Ja, Leute, wo leben wir denn?
Fans ist ein gutes Stichwort. Sie hatten als Präsident eine sehr enge Verbindung zur Fan-Szene, vor allem zu den Ultras. Um die gab es in dieser Saison wieder mal viel Diskussionen und Ärger: St. Pauli, das Chaos in Bochum, das „Böhse Onkelz“-Lied vor Tottenham. Wie bewerten Sie das?
Da habe ich gemerkt, wie weit die Eintracht in solchen Dingen von mir weggerutscht ist, die ist für mich Lichtjahre weg. Ich habe zu Hause zu meiner Familie gesagt: ‚Das ist doch nicht mehr mein Verein, das kann doch nicht wahr sein.‘
Meinen Sie damit das Verhalten der Fans oder das Verhalten des Vereins zu den Fans?
Beides. Nehmen Sie den Vorfall in St. Pauli (Banner im Eintracht-Block mit homophobem Spruch/d. Red.). Da sitzen alle auf der Tribüne und schauen, was da für ein Plakat hängt. Ich wäre früher in drei Minuten drüben gewesen und hätte das Ding runtergerissen. Da ist schon viel entglitten. Auch das Ganze mit den Onkelz …
Was haben Sie da gedacht?
Was mich gewundert hat: Dass da einfach der ganze Ablauf geändert wurde, dass das überhaupt genehmigt wurde. Geht das so weiter, übernimmt die Kurve den Verein, bestimmt dann was für uns Standard und Status ist. Ich hatte danach unzählige Nachrichten: ‚Fischer, da musst Du was machen, das können wir uns doch nicht gefallen lassen. Kümmer‘ Dich drum, sonst rutscht uns das total aus der Hand.‘
Und? Könnten Sie? Haben Sie noch den Einfluss?
Nach diesem Vakuum? Ich weiß nicht. Aber weil ich viele lange kenne und für den ein oder anderen ein Auge zugedrückt oder geholfen habe, könnte ich mir durchaus vorstellen, eine Brücke herstellen zu können. Aber das ist nicht mehr mein Spielfeld.
