Čtyřiatřicetiletý fotbalista se na Střelnici vrátil až v průběhu aktuální sezony a zasáhl v ní zatím jen do čtyř ligových zápasů. Jeho jméno bylo spojováno se zájmem třeba druholigové Líšně (nově Artisu Brno), ale Jablonec spekulace ukončil a nabídl hráči novou smlouvu.
„Jsem rád, že budu v Jablonci pokračovat. Máme teď před koncem hodně dobré sezony a nebylo těžké se rozhodnout pro pokračování. Je tu dobrý tým a výborná parta, jako jsem to zažíval při mém prvním působení v Jablonci,“ uvedl Novák.
V české nejvyšší soutěži odehrál 125 utkání a dal 16 gólů, za českou reprezentaci si připsal 28 zápasů a dvě branky. Hrál také za Zlín, Midtjylland, Trabzonspor, Fenerbahce, Al Džazíru a Olomouc.
