Zbývali už jen tři. Rodrigo Bentancur, Cristian Romero a kapitán Son. Prezident UEFA Aleksander Čeferin jim překvapeně začal vysvětlovat, že medaile nedostanou. Došly.
„K naší velké nelibosti jsme neměli na pódiu během slavnostního předávání trofejí dispozici dostatek medailí kvůli neočekávanému rozdílu v počtu hráčů, jelikož se ceremoniálu zúčastnilo více členů týmu – včetně zraněných hráčů – než se původně předpokládalo,“ později vysvětlila UEFA v prohlášení.

Na hřišti si hráči převzali jen 30 medailí, dalších 20 dostali po ceremonii. „Chybějící medaile byly vítěznému týmu neprodleně doručeny v šatně spolu s naší upřímnou omluvou,“ doplnila UEFA.
Že nemá medaili kapitánovi v tu chvíli asi moc nevadilo. S širokým úsměvem na tváři trofej políbil, radostně nastoupil před tým a slavnostně ji pozvedl nad hlavu.
Zajímavé ale je, že se houpalo zlato na krku českému brankáři Kinskému. Po lednovém přestupu ze Slavie ho londýnský celek nedopsal na soupisku pro evropské poháry. Nedostali se na ni ani další gólman Fraser Forster nebo obránce Sergio Reguilon.
Rovněž oni však si pro medaili přišli…
