Davide, souhlasíte, že rozhodla nepovedená první třetina, kterou jste prohráli 0:3?
Švédové byli lepší, my zaspali začátek. Proti tak silnému a talentovanému týmu se to nemůže stát. Na druhou stranu jsem pyšný na tým, jak se dokázal vzchopit. Ve druhé a třetí třetině jsme Švédům nedali nic zadarmo. Ta první nás stála zápas, ale bojovali jsme až do konce.

Bylo těžké obracet třígólové manko?
Spíš skoro nemožné. Tři góly v první třetině, to je prostě hodně. Pár šancí tam pak bylo, ale nepovedlo se. Bereme to jako další zkušenost. Spousta kluků hraje v Evropě, hráči za mořem nějaké zkušenosti mají, ale pořád máme mladý tým. Je super, že si takové zápasy můžeme zahrát. Budujeme skvělou partu a věřím, že nás čekají světlé zítřky. Poslední dva tři roky už dokážeme se světovou špičkou bojovat. Loni jsme si zkusili, co obnáší dojít až ke zlatu. Ve čtvrtfinále se to láme, jestli je turnaj pozitivní nebo ne. Teď se to nepovedlo.
MS v hokeji 2025
88. ročník mistrovství světa v hokeji je na programu v termínu od 9. do 25. května 2025. Hostí jej Švédsko a Dánsko, konkrétně města Stockholm a Herning.
Vyčítáte si své vyloučení, po kterém Švédové ve 13. minutě otevřeli z přesilovky skóre?
Bylo hodně přísné. Sudí odpískal držení, já si myslel, že se mu nelíbilo sekání. Z toho jsem byl trochu nervózní. Mrzí mě to, zbytečný faul. Nikdy není příjemné, když jste na trestné lavici a sledujete, jak tým dostane gól.
Mrzí zpětně o to víc prohra s USA na závěr skupiny, která vám pro čtvrtfinále postavila do cesty silné Švédy?
To je hokej, stává se to. Kdybychom to zvládli, nejsme třetí a máme lehčího soupeře. Ale brali jsme to jako realitu. Skupinová fáze je dlouhá, body se mohou nabrat i ztratit. Nedá se nic dělat.
Měl jste proti domácím Švédům zvýšenou motivaci uspět s ohledem na vaši švédskou manželku Rebeku?
Určitě jsme je chtěli vyřadit a vyhrát u nich doma. Bohužel se to nepovedlo.
Kdo vymyslel, že Rebecca i vaše dcera Freya Ivy obě přijdou fandit na stadion v česko-švédském bílo-žlutém dresu?
Dali jsme hlavy dohromady. Aby to bylo férové, vymysleli jsme to takhle.
Tým jste táhnul na celém turnaji, jak hodnotíte své výkony?
To nechci hodnotit, dělám to nerad. Teď jsme prohráli čtvrtfinále. Lajna šlapala, padalo nám to tam. Dneska to nebylo ono, bohužel.
Se silami jste problém neměl? Po náročné sezoně v Bostonu jste byl i na šampionátu hodně vytěžovaný.
Celá sezona byla náročná, i tenhle turnaj. Ale já jsem připravený. Prostě hraju.
Přejete teď i kvůli své ženě zlato Švédům?
Musím říct, že je mi to úplně jedno.
Už v únoru příštího roku je olympiáda. Máte ji teď v hlavě jako další velký cíl?
To je strašně daleko. Záleží i na zdraví, to nikdy neberu jako samozřejmost. Připravím se na další sezonu, pak se uvidí.
Co říkáte na senzační triumf Dánů nad Kanaďany ve čtvrtfinále MS?
Nene (překvapeně). To jsem nevěděl. No, tak to je hezký. Nevím, co k tomu říct.
