Dallas, který měl v loňské sérii s Edmontonem v přesilovkách tragickou bilanci 0-14, tentokrát proměnil hned tři početní výhody a vyzmizíkoval představy Oilers o úspěšném vstupu do konferenčního finále. Stars přitom inkasovali v 11 z dosavadních 14 odehraných zápasů v play off jako první a stejně mají našlápnuto do finále.
„Ty góly v přesilovkách nám hodně pomohly. Loni v tomto období jsme v nich měli problémy. Ale tentokrát to byla nádhera,“ tvrdil kouč Dallasu Peter DeBoer. Tři góly v přesilovkách během úvodních šesti minut třetiny padly dosud v dějinách play off jen jednou zásluhou NY Rangers v roce 2014.
„Dostali jsme tři góly ve třech oslabeních v řadě a zápas se tím úplně změnil. Venku nám speciální formace nefungují, což je problém,“ přikývl Draisaitl. Zatímco Dallas má ve vyřazovací části úspěšnost přesilovek 34,9 procenta, Oilers jsou v oslabení tragičtí. Ubrání se jen v 62,2 procentech případů…
