Deion Sanders is embracing life as a grandfather with the same energy and flair he’s brought to every chapter of his career.
The Colorado Buffaloes head coach recently unveiled a custom-built playground for his grandson Snow at his Texas ranch-and he couldn’t help but use the moment to poke fun at his son Shilo Sanders in true “Coach Prime” fashion.
The picturesque setup, dubbed “Snow’s Playground,” is nestled on Sanders‘ sprawling 5,000-acre property, offering a serene, luxury escape for the youngest member of the Sanders family.
In photos shared on social media, Sanders is seen joyfully relaxing on a swing in the new space, a symbol of the growing pride he holds for his role as grandfather.

“Lord, thank you for my DAUGHTER @deiondrasanders for blessing me with my grandson SNOW. God, you are incredible. I only know how to be a blessing, so SNOW has it coming,” Sanders wrote on Instagram.
“I love him like he’s mine! He’s cutting into @shilosanders’ trust fund. Lololololol #Grandhitta #PapaPrime #GrandPrime.”
The message blended heartfelt appreciation with a dose of Sanders‘ trademark humor-publicly teasing Shilo that the new baby may now be commanding more of his attention and resources.
Shilo’s NFL deal follows lighthearted jab from Coach Prime
While Coach Prime may be shifting into grandfather mode, he hasn’t taken his eye off his children’s achievements. Just one day after going undrafted, Shilo Sanders signed a three-year, $2.96 million rookie contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The deal came hours after his brother Shedeur Sanders was picked by the Cleveland Browns at No. 144 overall in the fifth round of the NFL Draft.
Shilo‘s journey to the NFL followed a rocky draft weekend, but his quick signing reflected his readiness and appeal to pro teams-particularly his tenacity as a defensive back at Colorado. His father wasted no time in sharing his pride online.
“I’m so Proud of @shilosanders! He’s focused, dedicated & hungry,” Deion wrote. “I can’t wait to see the product he puts on the field. They have a REAL PURPOSE & yall know why. #Dad. #CoachPrime.”
Despite the frequent banter between the two, Deion‘s admiration for Shilo’s determination and drive remains constant. Their relationship is one of competitive love-equal parts jest and genuine support.
Deion Sanders rises in coaching ranks
Beyond his role as a proud father and grandfather, Deion Sanders continues to climb the ranks of college football’s coaching elite.
Following a transformative season with the Colorado Buffaloes, where he led the team from a 1-11 record to a 9-4 finish and an Alamo Bowl berth, Sanders has been recognized nationally.
He recently rose to No. 33 in CBS Sports’ annual coaching rankings, leapfrogging iconic NFL coach Bill Belichick, who enters the college ranks at No. 54 with North Carolina.
CBS Sports analyst Tom Fornelli praised Sanders‘ impact: “The Buffs were in the title race until the very end of the year… When you see that, plus the hype and attention that he draws off the field, it’s not surprising to see that he’s starting to be bumped up people’s ballots.”
With a top-tier 2025 recruiting class-featuring 14 verbal commits and 27 incoming transfers, good for second in the Big 12-Sanders has quickly turned Colorado into a competitive program.
However, the upcoming season presents new challenges, as he prepares to coach without key players like Shedeur, Shilo, and Travis Hunter, who have all moved on to the professional level.
Still, with his charisma, recruiting success, and deep family ties, Coach Prime’s story is just getting started. Whether it’s teasing his son about a trust fund or preparing his team for a title run, Sanders continues to lead with a combination of swagger, strategy, and heart.
