The first-ever Concacaf W Champions Cup will be hoisted by either Tigres UANL or Gotham FC. Each side hits Saturday night’s match after emphatic victories in the semifinal. The Mexican power has home-field advantage on its own pitch, but the NWSL club shouldn’t be discounted after its convincing win over Liga MX Femenil leader Club América.

It was smooth sailing from there, despite the choppy playing conditions. Midge Purce made it 2-0 by converting a penalty in the 30th minute, and an own goal in the 33rd put things fully out of reach. Gotham entered the week scoreless in its last three NWSL contests, but it gave an energized performance against América despite rest and travel disadvantages.
Just a few hours later, Tigres sealed its final bid with a 2-0 victory versus the Portland Thorns. That matchup had a lot of promise, showcasing the most decorated clubs from their respective leagues. But it was all Tigres come match time. Aaliyah Farmer had the first goal in the 11th minute, and Thembi Kgatlana doubled up the lead here:

All six of the tournament’s semifinal goals came in first-half action.
The losing semifinalists will face off for third place on this same pitch before Saturday’s finale.
Gotham standout Esther González is the NWSL’s Golden Boot leader thus far, with seven goals in 10 domestic matches. She extended her contract with the club last week. Lizbeth Ovalle leads all Tigres scorers with eight goals in Liga MX play.
The winner of Saturday’s staging gets a spot in the inaugural 2026 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup, plus a berth in the 2028 FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.
