Jablonec jste přejeli. Byl to od Plzně pohárový výkon?
Tento termín před takovými zápasy hodně používáme. Chceme v nich ukázat Evropu. Někdy se nám to daří víc někdy míň. Jablonci jsme nedovolili, co má rád. Tedy rychlý, přechodový fotbal. Vyšel nám začátek, pak jsme měli senzační standardky. Někdy se povede, že vám tam všechno napadá.

Lze hodnotit sezonu jinak než úspěšnou?
Byla úspěšná. Jsme druzí, udělali jsme oproti loňsku v tabulce krok nahoru, získali jsme i víc bodů. S účinkováním v Evropě jsme odehráli pětapadesát zápasů, a to v užším kádru. Klobouk dolů před týmem, před hráči, jak byli soudržní. Dokázali si udržet konstantní výkonnost, byť nějaké výkyvy tam pochopitelně byly.

Kdy vám v sezoně bylo nejhůř?
Mrzely mě dvě porážky v nadstavbě. Oba zápasy jsme měli vyhrát. Na Slavii i doma s Ostravou. Po Baníku mi bylo nejhůř, pustili jsme si ho na záda a museli o druhé místo bojovat do posledního kola.
Jste natěšený na předkola Ligy mistrů?
Mám hlavně radost, že jsme v průběhu dvou sezon vystoupali ze třetí soutěže do druhé, teď máme možnost skočit do první. Uvidíme. Evropu ale nemáme jistou, musíme minimálně jeden dvojzápas v předkolech vyhrát.

V nich už nebudete moct využít kapitána Lukáše Kalvacha, pro kterého byl duel s Jabloncem poslední v dresu Plzně. Dá se takový hráč nahradit?
Bude chybět. Lukáš je playmaker, je nesmírně důležitý z hlediska zakládání útoků, tvorby hry odzadu. Dokáže se navíc dostávat do koncovky. Má vynikající vnímání hry, je to chytrý hráč. Nějak ho prostě nahradit musíme. Budeme muset počkat na příchody a pak z hlíny něco uplácat.
Kromě Kalvacha se s Viktorií loučil i Brazilec Cadu. Končí i bývalý kapitán Lukáš Hejda?
Mrzí mě, že jsem ho nedostal na hřiště aspoň na pár minut. Mohlo by to ale potom vypadat jako rozlučka. Ale Lukáš nekončí, jede dál.
Je možné, že kromě Kalvacha a Cadua přijdete i o záložníka Pavla Šulce. Už víte, kým tyto hráče nahradíte?
Musíme potenciálně počítat s tím, že Pavel může odejít. A na základě toho dělat náhradu s předstihem. Obecně, potřebujeme pro příští sezonu opět silný kádr, bude nesmírně náročná. Ale tohle je fotbal – hráči odcházejí a přicházejí. Teď se ale čtrnáct dnů na fotbal vyprdnu, vyčistím si hlavu.
