El Santiago Bernabéu vivió una de las tardes más emocionantes de su historia reciente. No fue una final, ni un título, ni una remontada épica. Fue algo más profundo: la despedida de dos leyendas. Luka Modric y Carlo Ancelotti dijeron adiós al templo blanco en un homenaje que tocó el alma. El Real Madrid, impecable como anfitrión, organizó un acto cargado de sentimiento, respeto y reconocimiento.
Las emociones comenzaron a desbordarse cuando, a falta de cinco minutos para el final del partido, Modric fue sustituido. Todo el estadio se puso en pie. El croata, visiblemente emocionado, caminó entre lágrimas por un pasillo formado por todos los jugadores, incluidos los de la Real Sociedad, mientras en el fondo del túnel lo esperaba Toni Kroos -invitado sorpresa y su inseparable compañero de batallas- con los brazos abiertos. Un abrazo que simbolizó más que una amistad: una era que llega a su fin. Piel de gallina.

Impecable homenaje
Tras el pitido final, las luces del Bernabéu bajaron para dar paso a dos vídeos: uno dedicado a Carlo Ancelotti, el arquitecto sereno de tantas noches mágicas, y otro a Luka Modric, el genio humilde que marcó una época. Imágenes, goles, gestos, abrazos… recuerdos que arrancaron lágrimas y ovaciones en partes iguales.
Los protagonistas tomaron entonces el micrófono en el centro del campo. El técnico italiano, con su elegancia habitual, agradeció al club y a la afición el cariño incondicional. Pero fue Modric quien rompió el corazón de todos: “No llores porque se acabó, sonríe porque sucedió”. Una frase que condensó la emoción del momento.
Ancelotti hizo llorar a Florentino
“Buenas tardes. No tenéis que pensar que es tan sencillo hablar hoy. Ha sido un honor, ha sido un placer entrenar a este club, a este equipo. Quiero agradecer en primer lugar a mi querido presidente, a Florentino. Ha sido fantástico, gracias por estos momentos. Ha sido extraordinario vivir esto con vosotros, ha sido una historia inolvidable porque nadie puede olvidar los tres goles de Karim contra el PSG, nadie puede olvidar los dos de Rodrygo contra el City ni el pase de Luka. Y nadie puede olvidar los dos goles de Joselu. Y yo tampoco puedo olvidar cada día que he pasado aquí. Y termino con Hala Madrid y nada más. Os quiero mucho”, fueron las palabras de Carlo.
Así fue el discurso íntegro de Carlo Ancelotti tras su último partido con el Real Madrid. El presidente Florentino Pérez también lloró en el palco.
En la televisión oficial del club, Ancelotti dio por cumplido el objetivo que se marcó el primer día: “Muy contento, orgulloso, ha sido una etapa extraordinaria. No podemos olvidar nada de lo que ha pasado y me voy con esto, con el cariño de la gente, el orgullo de haber entrenado mucho tiempo un gran club. El Real Madrid es una casa, una familia. Ha sido así en estos seis años. Lo hemos pasado muy bien por los títulos, el ambiente. El Real Madrid es distinto a otros clubes, es una familia, se respira que es una familia en Valdebebas y lo he pasado muy bien. Ha sido una buena conexión entre el club, yo y los jugadores. He tenido jugadores extraordinarios y el Madrid va a seguir con jugadores extraordinarios. Es el día con la emoción más alta. Cuando ganas una Champions no percibes este tipo de emoción. Llorar no es un problema. Es normal llorar, me voy muy satisfecho. Ha sido un honor, un placer ser parte de esta familia y escribir y entrar en la historia de este club. Era el objetivo del primer día. Y lo he conseguido”.
Modric y una frase que lo resume todo
“Ha llegado el momento que nunca quise que llegara, pero ha sido un viaje largo pero maravilloso. Primero quería dar las gracias al club, al presidente Florentino Pérez. Quería dar las gracias a todos los entrenadores durante todos estos años, a los compañeros que me acompañaron y a la gente que me ayudó. Muchas gracias de corazón. A mi familia también. Hemos ganado mucho, hemos tenido momentos maravillosos. Es vuestro amor que me habéis dado en todos estos años. No hay palabras para agradeceros todo lo que me habéis dado estos años. Quiero decir una frase que he visto y me gustó: No llores porque se terminó, sonríe porque sucedió. Hala Madrid y nada más”, es lo que acertó a decir Modric entre la emoción.

Ya en el micrófono de la televisión del club, Luka agradeció al madridismo por su amor y cariño durante casi 13 años: “Mi mayor trofeo es este cariño y amor de la gente, del madridismo. No hay palabras. Desde el día 1 hasta este día, es con lo que me voy a quedar además de con lo conseguido, pero esto es lo máximo para mí. Esto se queda para toda la vida, este amor y cariño. Gracias de corazón por todo esto. Es un día muy emocionante para mí, donde menos he llorado ha sido en el campo. Camino del estadio y en el vestuario ha sido muy difícil para mí. Esto no lo pensaba, no lo había soñado. Estoy muy muy agradecido y contento porque esto ha pasado, por el homenaje y por todo lo que me pasó durante estos casi 13 años. En el Bernabéu ha habido muchos partidos increíbles. La Champions de las remontadas contra el PSG, Chelsea, City… si tengo que elegir un momento, es el del PSG. Dije que si ganábamos ese partido ganábamos la Champions y así fue. Todavía queda un reto muy importante, el Mundial de Clubes, y vamos con la ilusión y las ganas de intentar ganarlo. Sería increíble terminar mi carrera en el Madrid con un título más. Ojalá estemos a la altura con un nuevo entrenador y celebrarlo con nuestra gente. Para mí mi familia es lo más importante, te da estabilidad y mi mujer y mis hijos han estado conmigo y me han apoyado en todos los momentos, sobre todo en momentos complicados y esto significa mucho. No hay palabras para agradecerles. Han sido los pilares para mí, durante toda mi carrera”.
Vuelta de honor con la emoción a flor de piel
El broche de oro llegó con la vuelta de honor. Luka, acompañado de su familia, recorrió el Bernabéu entre aplausos atronadores, besando el escudo, saludando a cada rincón del estadio que fue su casa durante más de una década. Junto a Ancelotti, ambos fueron manteados por la plantilla, elevando al cielo las leyendas que se van.
Este acto de despedida también zanja una deuda que tenía el Real Madrid: el club blanco también sabe despedir a los suyos. El club demuestra además que detrás de la exigencia también hay espacio para la gratitud y el homenaje. Fue una tarde sin trascendencia deportiva, pero en la que el Bernabéu lloró y sonrió. Porque lo vivido con Modric y Ancelotti no fue solo fútbol. Fue historia. Y será eterno.
