FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Sam Reinhart, the Florida Panthers’ 57-goal scorer from a season ago and a Selke Trophy finalist this season, will miss Saturday night’s Eastern Conference finals contest with a lower-body injury as the defending Stanley Cup champs look to take a 3-0 series lead on the Carolina Hurricanes.

Panthers coach Paul Maurice said forward Jesper Boqvist will replace Reinhart, who the team considers day-to-day.
“(Reinhart’s) a player that touches all parts your game — the critical part of the power play, (Aleksander) Barkov and Reinhart are elite at penalty killing, and he draws the heavy fire and pulls the best set of D from the other team, and understandably so,” Maurice said. “So it’s a significant player out of our lineup, for sure.
“You have to be able to survive (when significant players are sidelined in the playoffs). You can’t have one guy go down and not still have a chance, or you don’t have the depth that you think. But that being said, there’s a 57-goal scorer out of our lineup. Nobody has that kind of depth.”
Boqvist, 26, recorded 12 goals and 11 assists in 78 regular-season games and has a goal and an assist in nine playoff games. The Panthers scratched him in three consecutive games and five of the previous seven. In the series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, he subbed in for an injured Evan Rodrigues and scored a goal and an assist in the first of two straight appearances.
In both games, Boqvist played left wing next to Barkov and Reinhart. This time, he’ll slide onto the right side of Rodrigues and Barkov.
Reinhart went down in Thursday’s Game 2 when Sebastian Aho nailed him on the left leg with a low hip check as Reinhart crossed the offensive blue line.

Reinhart is seventh in playoff scoring for the deep Panthers with 11 points (four goals) in 14 games. He led the Panthers in regular-season scoring with 39 goals and 81 points in 79 games.
