Edmonton do zápasu vstoupil aktivněji a po 14 minutách byl odměněn. Nugent-Hopkins zavezl puk do útočného pásma, nabil obránci Evanu Bouchardovi a ten střelou po ledě poslal Oilers do vedení.
O 36 vteřin později to bylo 2:0 pro Edmonton a opět u toho byl Nugent-Hopkins. Kanadský křídelník spolu s McDavidem výborně vyřešil přečíslení tři na jednoho a připsal si další asistenci.
Dallas se ve druhé třetině díky brance probuzeného kanonýra Jasona Robertsona dostal na dostřel, 19 sekund před druhou sirénou ale podruhé v zápase udeřil McDavid. Pojistil si tak první místo v produktivitě vyřazovacích bojů, které vládne o bod před Mikem Rantanenem z Dallasu a spoluhráčem Leonem Draisaitlem.
Ve třetí dvacetiminutovce Edmonton přidal další tři branky a došel si pro jednoznačné vítězství. Dvakrát se prosadil Hyman, který byl se třemi body za dva góly a asistenci vyhlášen druhou hvězdou zápasu.
