O Atlético-MG pode ter novidade em seu elenco para a sequência da temporada. O Galo está em negociações com o volante Thiago Mendes, de 33 anos, que atualmente está no Al-Rayyan, do Catar, mas tem contrato apenas até junho desse ano e não deve ter o seu vínculo renovado. Segundo apuração do “ge”, as negociações já estão avançadas entre o clube e o jogador. Neste cenário, ele viria sem custos na próxima janela de transferências, para ser jogador do clube no segundo semestre.
O jogador está no clube catari desde 2023, mas não conseguiu ter muita sequência por lá. Ao todo, disputou 30 partidas, marcando um gol e dando uma assistência. Ele é um volante com características principais de marcação, não tendo grandes participações em gols. Na última temporada, fez apenas nove jogos, sofrendo com lesões que o tiraram de boa parte da temporada. Enquanto esteve à disposição, porém, foi titular na maioria dos jogos.
Carreira de Thiago Mendes
Revelado pelo Goiás, em 2010, o jogador se destacou no Esmeraldino, sendo bicampeão estadual e campeão da Série B do Brasileirão. Então, chamou a atenção do São Paulo, onde atuou entre 2015 e 2017. No Tricolor paulista, sempre foi titular do time, realizando mais de 140 jogos neste período. Depois, foi vendido ao Lille, da França, por 8 milhões de euros. Em 2019, se transferiu para o Lyon, um dos maiores clubes franceses, custando 25 milhões de euros (R$ 108 milhões). Ficou por lá até 2023, quando foi jogar no Catar.
Agora, se acertar com o Galo, retorna ao futebol brasileiro depois de oito anos no exterior. Recentemente, chegou a negociar um retorno ao São Paulo, que esbarrou na pedida financeira. No clube mineiro, ele irá disputar posição com Alan Franco, Patrick, Gabriel Menino e Fausto Vera, que são os jogadores que mais se aproximam das suas características no elenco.
Atlético-MG busca classificação na Sul-Americana
Nesta quinta-feira (29), às 21h30, o Atlético-MG entra em campo diante do Cienciano (PER), na Arena MRV, pela última rodada da fase de grupos da Copa Sul-Americana. Em segundo lugar no grupo H, o Galo precisa obrigatoriamente vencer se quiser avançar de forma direta às oitavas de final, já que apenas o primeiro passa de fase. E, o líder é justamente o adversário peruano. Então, uma vitória simples já basta para o clube mineiro. Em caso de tropeço, o time comandado por Cuca terminará em segundo lugar, tendo que disputar um mata-mata com algum terceiro colocado da Libertadores.
No Brasileirão, a situação também não é das mais confortáveis. O Atlético é apenas o décimo colocado, com três vitórias conquistadas em 10 jogos. Já são duas partidas seguidas sem vitória. No último final de semana, ficou apenas no 0 a 0 em casa diante do Corinthians. O próximo compromisso pela competição nacional acontece no domingo (1), às 18h30, diante do Ceará, fora de casa. Depois, no dia 12, enfrenta o Internacional, antes da parada para o Mundial de Clubes.
