Billy Joel, one of the great icons of American music, is going through a delicate moment after being diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH).

In response to the situation, his wife, Alexis Roderick Joel, shared an emotional message through the musician’s official Instagram account, expressing her gratitude for the support received.
“Thank you for the outpouring of love and support”, Alexis wrote on Monday, May 26, accompanying her words with a photo with Billy and their daughters, Della, 9, and Remy, 7.

Alexis, 43, also wanted to convey a message of hope: “We have faith in his recovery. We hope to be able to see you all in the future”.
The diagnosis of NPH, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid builds up in the brain’s ventricles, was shared on Friday, May 23.
According to the official statement, the recent live performances aggravated Joel’s situation, causing him problems with balance, hearing and vision.
On medical advice, the singer has begun specific physical therapy and has been advised to suspend his performances during the recovery process.
Billy Joel’s message to his fans
Billy Joel also shared a few words for his fans: “I sincerely apologize for disappointing our audience and I thank them for their understanding”.
His commitment to recovery is clear, and both he and those around him have stressed that he is receiving high-quality medical care.
The artist’s extended family has also spoken out. Alexa Ray Joel, Billy’s daughter with ex-wife Christie Brinkley, posted a black-and-white image depicting a father holding his young daughter’s hand, along with a message of love:
“We love you and we’re with you, Dad,” she concluded her post with a line from “Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel),” the song her father wrote for her on the River of Dreams album.
For his part, Joel’s ex-wife, Christie Brinkley, 71, sent her support via social media on Saturday, May 24: “The entire Brinkley family sends you much love and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.”
Billy Joel initially postponed his concerts from February, after a fall on stage during a performance in Connecticut. At the time, there was talk of a “medical condition” that required specialist attention.
Today, as the artist focuses on healing, his loved ones and admirers around the world send him strength, eagerly awaiting the day when he can once again fill the stage with his music.
