Artilheiro do Vasco nas últimas duas temporadas, Pablo Vegetti tem uma especialidade clara: o jogo aéreo. Apontado muitas vezes como o melhor cabeceador em atividade no Brasileirão, o argentino explorou essa valência em momentos e resultados decisivos para o cruz-maltino. Agora, com a chegada do técnico Fernando Diniz, o camisa 99 tem mostrado novas facetas de seu jogo na grande área: mais gols em finalizações com os pés. A nova virtude é uma das esperanças do Vasco, que recebe hoje, às 21h, o Bragantino, em São Januário.
O atacante soma 18 gols em 29 jogos no ano. Antes da chegada de Fernando Diniz, a maioria deles veio pelo jogo aéreo: foram sete gols de cabeça, um com o tronco, dois com o pé esquerdo, outros dois com o pé direito e três em cobranças de pênalti.
Com o novo treinador, o panorama tem sido diferente: nos cinco jogos sob o comando de Diniz, Vegetti tem participado mais da construção das jogadas nos arredores da área e foi às redes três vezes — nenhuma de cabeça. Em duas ocasiões contra o Fortaleza, desviou com os pés para o gol, uma jogada que já protagonizava com certa frequência. Na vitória por 3 a 0 sobre o Melgar-PER, pela Sul-Americana, fez diferente: entrou na área pelas costas da defesa para receber um passe em profundidade de Tchê Tchê, movimento conhecido no jargão esportivo como “facão”.

Perguntado se o movimento, pouco comum no estilo de jogo do atacante, foi resultado de uma instrução específica ou uma adaptação à nova proposta da equipe, Diniz afirmou que foi um misto:
— É uma adaptação ao treino. Conforme o time vai se moldando, ele vai percebendo os espaços e, obviamente, vamos otimizando, dando instruções. Ele fez um gol e poderia ter feito outro no “facão” também. Acho que vai fazer mais gols com os pés, não vai marcar só de cabeça como vinha fazendo antes — projetou.
O Vasco vai para a partida com os desfalques de Hugo Moura e Luiz Gustavo, suspensos. Jair (ou Mateus Carvalho) e Lucas Freitas devem entrar no time titular.
Do lado do Braga, além de quatro atletas entregues ao departamento médico, o técnico Fernando Seabra não contará com o zagueiro Guzmán e o atacante Lucas Barbosa, que receberam, respectivamente, o terceiro cartão amarelo e o vermelho na rodada passada, diante do Juventude.
