Linkin Park’s tragedy after the death of its singer: this is how a band that almost changed its name has regenerated

In the early years of the new millennium, there was a group that broke the musical mould of the moment. Linkin Park became a true musical reference for many young people and their concerts became real shows in which they enjoyed listening, dancing and sharing with other fans a show that many considered, in those years, as unique and unrepeatable.

The band continued to reap success and number ones in the music charts, the sales of their records grew and everything indicated that Linkin Park would become a cult band, however in 2017 everything took an unexpected turn when the band’s leader Chester Bennington died suddenly, leaving a tremendous void in the band’s environment and fans.

In 2024, Linkin Park was heard from again as the group’s return was announced with a few changes. Emily Armstrong has joined as co-vocalist and Colin Brittain as the new drummer, in addition to the return of Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell and Joe Hahn. All under the same name as the group, something that some fans have not looked upon favorably.

Linkin Park's tragedy after the death of its singer: this is how a band that almost changed its name has regenerated

The debate was put on the table after the first concert of the year, a show in which they presented their new song ‘The Emptiness Machine’ and did so in a very personal and intimate concert in Los Angeles where they also announced their new album ‘From Zero’, as well as a tour, but this circumstance meant that fans, in the absence of Bennington, indicated that they should have adopted a new name.

Something that could be read on the social network X in some posts. “Emily Armstrong is an amazing vocalist, but I feel like she and the rest of Linkin Park should start a new project rather than using the name and songs of Linkin Park. Some projects deserve to rest with dignity, and Linkin Park is one of them.”

Phil Mickelson says that there’s a ‘high likelihood’ that the 2025 U.S. Open will be his last at the major

In June 1994, Arnold Palmer capped off his illustrious U.S. Open career at Oakmont Country Club. Now, a little over three decades later, another golfing great could follow in Palmer's footsteps. Phil Mickleson, a six-time major winner, was recently asked about the likelihood that this year's U.S. Open -- which will again be played at Oakmont -- will be his last. "I haven't thought about it too much," Mickelson told reporters ahead of the LIV Golf event in Virginia this week.. "There's a high likelihood that it will be, but I haven't really thought about it too much."Mickelson, 54, was granted a five-year exemption into the U.S. Open after winning the 2021 PGA Championship, where he became the oldest major winner in history at age 50. This is the final year of his exemption.  Without an exemption, Mickelson would have to go […]

Predicting next NFL wide receivers to get paid: Terry McLaurin, Drake London likely candidates for extension

The NFL offseason is a time of change. Players change teams. Teams change coaches, front offices, game-day schemes and so on.Yet the offseason can also be a time of commitment. Players and coaches and executives get new opportunities, some of them quite lucrative. And sometimes, teams commit to players already on the roster, deciding they want to keep them around long term.We saw an example of that Thursday when the Baltimore Ravens extended former first-round wide receiver Rashod Bateman. By the end of the offseason, we could see several more examples of wideouts getting locked up. With the Bateman deal in mind, we wanted to take a look at the wide receiver market in particular, and which player could be next to land a new contract.Because of their contract situations and the fact they have recently become extension-eligible, the most […]

White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf reaches ‘long-term’ agreement that could see Justin Ishbia own team by 2029

Imagn Images The Chicago White Sox are headed toward new ownership, but the transition will take several years before the controlling partner moves from Jerry Reinsdorf to Justin Ishbia. The White Sox announced Thursday that Reinsdorf and Ishbia "have reached a long-term investment agreement that establishes a framework" for Ishbia to move toward a future controlling interest in the ballclub. From the press release: The agreement provides that, from 2029–2033, Reinsdorf will have the option to sell the controlling interest to Ishbia. After the 2034 season, Ishbia will have the option to acquire the controlling interest. In the event of any such future transaction, all limited partners of the Sox would have the opportunity to sell to Ishbia at that time. In addition to Justin Ishbia, his brother Mat Ishbia, and father Jeff Ishbia will also be significant investors. There is no […]

Anthony Richardson injury: Colts QB (shoulder) won’t participate in minicamp, no timetable for return

Getty Images When the Indianapolis Colts begin their mandatory minicamp next week, they will do so without starting quarterback Anthony Richardson. The team has announced Richardson won't participate in minicamp as he is dealing with a shoulder injury. While he didn't provide a timetable for his return, Colts coach Shane Steichen said he hopes that Richardson can come back "at some point" during training camp. With Richardson out, former Giants starting quarterback Daniel Jones is in line to receive the Colts' first-team reps during minicamp. Jones, who signed a one-year, $14 million deal with the Colts this offseason, finished the 2024 season with the Vikings after New York granted his request to be released.  In Indianapolis, Jones is essentially replacing Joe Flacco, who previously served as Richardson's backup. Given Richardson's injury history, it's necessary the Colts have a proven veteran who can step […]

Ranking Big East basketball teams by tiers: Can anyone catch UConn and St. John’s in 2025-26 season?

One notable takeaway in the Big East is how UConn, St. John's and to a lesser extent, Creighton, are monopolizing the talent-acquisition game. UConn was the only team to land a top-40 freshman from the Class of 2025. The Huskies, Red Storm and Bluejays were the only Big East teams to land a top 50-rated transfer in the 2025 cycle. Of course, transfer rankings are inherently flawed because fit matters so much, but it's a slightly concerning development. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the chasm between the top and the bottom that is starting to develop in a basketball-crazed league. With rosters starting to finalize, we can start to get a better idea of the pecking order developing in the 2025-26 Big East. Tiers provide a preferable way of contextualizing the outlook.
