College athletics is in an unusual place, relative to history, with student-athletes moving around in record numbers — forever in pursuit of more money, more playing time or simply something different.

Some programs have handled this better than others, obviously.

But nobody is immune.

Don’t believe me? Just look at North Carolina, one of the biggest brands in college basketball, and how the Tar Heels lack anything resembling roster-continuity. Six players entered the transfer portal after the season. Seth Trimble is the only notable player returning. None of that is ideal. But UNC coach Hubert Davis and his staff have spent the past two months adding interesting pieces from all over in an attempt to remake the roster — with the latest addition being Luka Bogavac, a 6-foot-5 guard from Montenegro who has been playing professionally for SC Derby in the ABA League, where he averaged 14.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists this past season while making 39.9% of the 3-pointers he attempted.

Bogavac is the ninth newcomer expected to join UNC’s program in advance of next season. His commitment has North Carolina up to No. 25 in Version 16 of the 2025-26 CBS Sports Top 25 And 1 college basketball rankings, where St. John’s remains No. 1 thanks to the return of Zuby Ejiofor and additions of North Carolina transfer Ian JacksonProvidence transfer Bryce HopkinsArizona State transfer Joson SanonCincinnati transfer Dillon MitchellStanford transfer Oziyah Sellers and  Idaho State transfer Dylan Darling.

While on his way to securing St. John’s first outright Big East title since 1985 last March, Red Storm coach Rick Pitino promised to restock his roster with high-level transfers. Undeniably, he delivered. So now the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame coach should have a realistic shot to win a third NCAA Tournament at a third different school next season after previously hanging banners at Kentucky (1996) and Louisville (2013).
