Spilková byla po třech kolech na 41. místě a mohla pomýšlet na vylepšení svého maxima na majorech, kterým je 50. místo z British Open z roku 2018. Jenže závěrečné kolo jí na hřišti v Erinu vůbec nevyšlo.
Třicetiletá Spilková zahrála pětkrát double bogey a dvakrát bogey a celkem ve čtvrtém kole zaznamenala 84 ran. Propadla se tak na konečnou 59. příčku. Druhá česká reprezentantka Hana Ryšková neprošla cutem a skončila už po druhém kole.
Starková zapsala 281 ran a vyhrála s náskokem dvou úderů před světovou jedničkou Američankou Nelly Kordovou a Japonkou Rio Takedaovou. US Open ovládla jako třetí Švédka, před ní to dokázala Annika Sörenstamová (1995, 1996, 2006) a Liselotte Neumannová (1988).
„O tomhle jsem ani nesnila,“ řekla Starková. „Je to neuvěřitelné. Před pár týdny bych ve vítězství ani nedoufala, nakonec ještě minulý týden bylo moje sebevědomí na bodu mrazu,“ řekla pětadvacetiletá Švédka.

Golfová jednička Scheffler obhájil titul v americkém Dublinu
Scottie Scheffler vyhrál turnaj v americkém Dublinu. První hráč světového žebříčku obhájil loňský titul a na okruhu PGA zvítězil potřetí z posledních čtyř startů.
Scheffler si pro 16. titul v kariéře došel díky výkonu 278 ran a krajana Bena Griffina na druhém místě porazil o čtyři rány. „Tohle je velmi náročné hřiště, které vás potrestá za každou chybu. Ben mi nedal nic zadarmo, byla to dobrá bitva,“ uvedl.
Osmadvacetiletý Scheffler dokázal obhájit titul v Dublinu jako teprve druhý golfista v historii. Před ním se to povedlo jen slavnému Tigeru Woodsovi. „To je super. Turnaj je tady vždy náročný,“ prohlásil vítěz tří majorů.
