Jennifer Aniston, star of Friends and The Morning Show, is going through an emotionally difficult time after being the victim of a serious stalking case. On May 5, 2025, a man identified as Jimmy Wayne Carwyle rammed his vehicle into the gates of the actress’ Bel Air home while she was inside.
What appeared to be an isolated act turned out to be the culmination of two years of persistent harassment through social media, emails and voicemails, where the attacker claimed that Aniston was his “girlfriend”.

A court ruling that left the actress without clear justice
On May 29, the Los Angeles Superior Court ruled that Carwyle is not mentally competent to stand trial. According to two psychiatric evaluations, the defendant suffers from severe mental disorders that prevent him from understanding the legal process. Judge Maria Cavalluzzi ordered the case to be stayed while his treatment is determined, causing dismay among those who expected a strong judicial resolution.
The defense and prosecution accepted the forensic reports, although they made it clear that the result was not what they wanted. “I know it’s not what my client wanted to hear, but we respect the process,” the defense attorney said. The next hearing will be on June 26, where Jennifer or her attorney could present an emotional impact statement to the court.
A public figure exposed, a private life violated
Since the incident, Aniston has been seen in public with a more reserved expression, looking visibly affected. Recent photographs in Beverly Hills showed the actress in casual attire and without her usual glow, a clear sign that she is still processing what happened. “Trying to regain peace of mind after something like this is not easy,” commented a source close to the actress.
The most alarming details were revealed by the attacker’s ex-wife, who claimed that Carwyle believed he was Jesus Christ and that Jennifer was his “queen”. “Something woke up in him… he’s not the same person anymore,” she told the Daily Mail.
