As the Buffalo Bills head into another season with championship expectations, questions remain about their wide receiver corps.
Despite having a reliable option in Khalil Shakir, the supporting cast-led by rookie Keon Coleman, and veterans Joshua Palmer and Elijah Moore-lacks top-tier experience and production. With superstar quarterback Josh Allen in his prime, Buffalo’s offense is in need of another game-breaking weapon.
This has sparked speculation in league circles and media chatter about bold moves that could elevate the Bills’ offense. One such scenario? Trading for Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio floated the idea, suggesting the Bills are among several contenders that should “at least ponder” pursuing Hill. He included the Ravens, Texans, Chargers, and 49ers in that conversation, but also acknowledged the obvious hurdle: Miami helping a division rival is extremely unlikely.
In theory, adding Hill makes perfect sense. He remains one of the NFL’s most electrifying playmakers and would give Allen an elite deep threat and proven target-an upgrade that could reshape Buffalo’s passing attack overnight. Placing Hill opposite Coleman or Shakir could instantly solve the Bills’ WR depth concerns.
But while the fit looks perfect on paper, the reality is far more complicated.
First, the financial picture is grim. Hill carries $27.6 million in guaranteed money in 2025 alone. Meanwhile, the Bills have just $1.6 million in available cap space-far too little to absorb a deal of that size, even with creative maneuvering from GM Brandon Beane.
Second, and perhaps more importantly, there’s no indication that the Dolphins are even open to moving Hill. Miami GM Chris Grier has been clear: it would take two first-round picks just to start the conversation.
And considering Hill is under contract and still producing at a high level, the Dolphins have little incentive to part ways with him-especially to a direct AFC East rival.
Hill himself has sent mixed messages about his long-term future in Miami, but nothing concrete suggests a trade is imminent. Until that changes, Buffalo‘s hopes of landing Hill remain speculative at best.
Ultimately, as exciting as a Tyreek Hill acquisition would be for the Bills, it’s not a realistic scenario. The idea underscores the team’s need for an elite receiving option, but the path forward likely lies elsewhere-whether through internal development, a smaller trade, or a late free agent signing.
Hill might be the kind of player who could put Buffalo over the top. Unfortunately, every road to making that dream a reality is blocked-for now.
