Wer holt den Ballon d’Or 2025? Die Diskussion ist in vollem Gange – und ein Star des FC Liverpool sorgt nun mit seiner Meinung für eine Überraschung.
[–>Ibrahima Konaté (26), Abwehrspieler der Reds, hat sich am Mittwochnachmittag auf der Pressekonferenz vor dem Nations-League-Halbfinale gegen Spanien in Stuttgart klar positioniert – und verzichtet dabei auf einen naheliegenden Namen: Mitspieler Mohamed Salah (32). Der Ägypter war mit seinen 29 Toren und 18 Assist in der Premier League maßgeblich am Titelgewinn der Liverpooler beteiligt. Doch Konaté nennt einen anderen Favoriten.
„Wir reden über Lamine Yamal (17), über Kylian Mbappé (26) … Aber niemand spricht über Ousmane Dembélé (28)“, sagte der französische Nationalspieler. „Er hat eine außergewöhnliche Saison abgeliefert. Mir fehlen ehrlich gesagt die Worte, um das zu beschreiben. Niemand hat das erwartet. Ich freue mich sehr für ihn. Ganz ehrlich, der verdienteste Ballon d’Or-Gewinner ist Ousmane Dembélé.“

Die Aussage ist nicht unbegründet. Dembélé feierte mit Paris Saint-Germain in dieser Saison das Triple: Champions League, Meisterschaft, Pokal. In 49 Pflichtspielen erzielte der frühere BVB-Star beeindruckende 33 Tore und gab 15 Vorlagen.
Nach schwierigen Jahren beim FC Barcelona, geprägt von Verletzungen und Kritik, blühte Dembélé unter PSG-Coach Luis Enrique in neuer Rolle als Mittelstürmer auf. Besonders in der K.o.-Phase der Champions League glänzte er: unter anderem bei Auftritten in Anfield, gegen den FC Arsenal und im Finale gegen Inter Mailand.
Harte Konkurrenz hat Dembélé dennoch. Lamine Yamal (17) lieferte mit 18 Toren und 25 Assists in 55 Spielern eine starke Saison beim FC Barcelona ab. Sollte der Teenager den Ballon d’Or holen, wäre er mit dann 18 Jahren der jüngste Gewinner aller Zeiten. Momentan gehört dieser Titel noch Ronaldo „R9“ Nazário: Er wurde 1997, nach einer Saison mit 49 Toren in 47 Spielen, mit 21 Jahren und 95 Tagen zum jüngsten Ballon d’Or Gewinner.
