Portugal é o grande vencedor da última edição da Liga das Nações. Na noite deste domingo, a Equipa das Quinas bateu a Espanha numa final que só ficou decidida nas grandes penalidades, depois do empate (2-2) verificado no final do tempo regulamentar e do prolongamento.
Os espanhóis inauguraram o marcador ainda na primeira parte, à passagem do minuto 21, com um golo de Martín Zubimendi, com Nuno Mendes a restabelecer a igualdade apenas cinco minutos depois, aos 26′. Em cima do apito para o intervalo, Mikel Oyarzabal voltou a colocar a La Roja na frente, mas Portugal empatou novamente a partida já no segundo tempo, aos 61 minutos, com um golo do capitão Cristiano Ronaldo. Nos penáltis, Álvaro Morata foi o único a falhar para a Espanha, permitindo a defesa de Diogo Costa, com Rúben Neves, posteriormente, a marcar o golo decisivo que deu o troféu à Seleção Portuguesa.
Portugal vence, assim, o terceiro título da sua história, depois das conquistas no Euro 2016 e na primeira edição da Liga das Nações, em 2019. A Equipa das Quinas tornou-se, de resto, na primeira seleção a vencer esta prova da UEFA em duas ocasiões.
