Mavericks schedule private pre-Draft workout for Duke’s Cooper Flagg, per report
<!--> The Dallas Mavericks have the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft on June 25. In preparation, they've scheduled a private workout with Duke freshman Cooper Flagg for June 17, per ESPN.The 6-foot-9 Flagg is expected to go first-overall in this month’s draft, but this move would only make the likelihood of that occurring increase. Per the report, the Mavericks have no other plans to work out any other players in private like they will Flagg. The implication there is not just that the Mavericks expect to take Flagg at No. 1, but also that, were they to trade their 1:1 pick in order to acquire a haul of win-now assets to pair with Anthony Davis and — eventually — the rehabilitating Kyrie Irving, who is recovering from surgery to repair an ACL tear suffered in March — they would […]

Getty Images Miami Marlins right-hander Eury Pérez will return to a big-league mound on Monday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates (GameTracker) for the first time since Sept. 20, 2023. Pérez, of course, underwent Tommy John surgery and had an internal brace installed in April 2024."It will definitely be emotional," Pérez told MLB.com through interpreter Luis Dorante Jr. "I'm very excited, but a little bit nervous, too. It has been a while for me. I've been away from the field. I'm just looking forward to competing and doing the best I can. It has been a long time."Pérez, 22, appeared to be a star on the rise during his initial introduction to the big leagues.

LeBron James to critics who say he doesn’t have a ‘bag’ as Lakers contract decision looms
When LeBron James retires he will hold the record for most points scored in NBA history, will have at least four NBA championships, four MVP trophies, three Olympic gold medals as well as a bronze, the most All-NBA selections in league history, the list goes on and on. He is the picture for longevity in the NBA, a career that we will very likely never see again. All of these accolades, and yet James isn't immune to critical social media discourse that greatly underestimates his talent and value. While speaking with Steve Nash and Luka Doncic on an episode of the Mind the Game podcast, James talked about how this younger generation of basketball players are too focused on having a "bag." Nash clarified it as a "bag of tricks" when it comes to dribbling, think of someone like Kyrie Irving who […]

Satou Sabally’s critique of WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert raises big questions about future scheduling
Phoenix Mercury star Satou Sabally has never been shy about speaking her mind, and she recently had some harsh words for WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert regarding the league's new schedule, which is seeing teams play a record 44 regular-season games in 2025. Following the Mercury's 89-77 loss to the Seattle Storm on Saturday, which concluded a stretch of nine games in 18 days for the team, Sabally was asked how helpful it would be to finally have some extra rest before they play again on Wednesday. She took the opportunity to call out Engelbert, and said it was "not really responsible" for her to add games to the schedule. Here are Sabally's full comments:"I think this is a conversation that could also be important for the next CBA. Cathy [Englebert] added a lot of games, and for us as players, recovery is […]
