V boji o postup do čtvrtfinále ale od aktuální světové sedmičky Bianchiho inkasoval první tři zásahy a od počátku neustále jen dotahoval ztrátu. Po první tříminutovce byl stav 1:4, po druhé už s členem stříbrného týmu z loňské olympiády prohrával 4:13. Ital, který na šampionátu prošel bez jediného zaváhání základní skupinou, si pak už bez problémů pohlídal v tu chvíli osmé vítězství na turnaji.
Už v základních skupinách skončil šampionát pro Lva Michaela Holého (56.) a Maxe Kaveckého (68.).
Bieleszová, jež byla vloni na 13. místě rovněž nejlepší českou kordistkou, vyhrála v Itálii šest soubojů – pět ze šesti v základní skupině a v play off těsně předčila v souboji soupeřek z druhé stovky žebříčku Němku Caglu Aytekinovou (15:14). Vzápětí ji ale porazila 15:6 světová pětka Nelli Differtová z Estonka.
V prvním kole play off vypadly Anna Coufalová (52.) i Dominika Doubová (53.), na postup do hlavního pavouka nedosáhla Gabriela Aigermanová (80.).
