O Fluminense tem mais motivos para ficar orgulhoso do que lamentar uma vitória que seria totalmente merecida. Com uma postura irretocável diante de um adversário europeu de respeito, o tricolor foi dominante na partida, mas não conseguiu converter as chances de perigo e ficou no empate sem gols com o Borussia Dortmund-ALE, nesta terça-feira, pelo Grupo F da Copa do Mundo de Clubes.
Apesar do favoritismo alemão, o Fluminense não sentiu o nervosismo da estreia e ficou mais perto de balançar as redes no primeiro tempo. Desde o início da partida, o tricolor teve sucesso ao explorar as investidas de Arias pelo lado direito. O colombiano encontrou espaços para ir à linha de fundo ou infiltrar na área, mas só faltou caprichar no terço final do campo para abrir o placar.
A escolha do técnico Renato Gaúcho em povoar o meio-campo com três volantes (Hércules, Martinelli e Nonato) se mostrou certeira em meio ao domínio tricolor. A equipe colocou bastante intensidade nos duelos e recuperava a bola com facilidade para sair em velocidade na transição ofensiva. Prova dessa superioridade é que o Fluminense teve cinco finalizações a mais que o adversário (8 a 3). No entanto, o goleiro Kobel fez apenas duas defesas na primeira etapa.
Do outro lado, o Borussia tentou surpreender com lançamentos longos nas costas da defesa adversária, porém, o zagueiro Thiago Silva ganhou a maioria dos confrontos pelo alto, o que já levava o time a ter novamente o controle do jogo. Depois de “assistir” ao tricolor jogar, a expectativa era de que o time alemão entrasse com mais agressividade no segundo tempo. Mas até isso a equipe do croata Niko Kovac deixou a desejar.
Melhor jogador em campo, Arias pegou de surpresa a defesa alemã com um lançamento na medida para Everaldo, que saiu sozinho para fazer o gol, mas perdeu velocidade após ajeitar de forma equivocada ao pé trocado (esquerdo) e tocar para Canobbio chutar fraco rasteiro.
Antes de sair para dar lugar a Cano, que voltou a jogar depois de sofrer lesão no joelho esquerdo, em 29 de abril, o camisa 9 chutou com perigo para a ação de Kobel, que fez uma defesa milagrosa no rebote de Nonato, mas o volante já estava impedido no lance. Com uma atuação dominante, o tricolor terminou o jogo com o dobro de finalizações (14 a 7).
O próximo compromisso do Fluminense é contra o Ulsan HD-COR, neste sábado, às 19h (de Brasília), no MetLife Stadium, em Nova Jersey-EUA. Já o Borussia enfrenta o Mamelodi Sundows-AFS, no mesmo dia, às 13h, no TQL Stadium, em Cincinnati.

Getty Images Former NFL cornerback Richard Sherman has been charged with driving under the influence following his arrest in King County back in 2024, according to the Seattle Times. Blood-test results from the State Patrol crime lab showed Sherman had a blood-alcohol level of approximately 0.11 the night of his arrest, which is above the legal limit of 0.08. Sherman was arrested following a traffic stop around 2 a.m. on Feb. 24, 2024. A Washington State Patrol officer noted Sherman's car was "bouncing back and forth within the lane it was traveling in." The five-time All-Pro cornerback refused a Breathalyzer, but did agree to some voluntary tests. Sherman showed signs of impairment during those voluntary tests, and he was arrested.
